G'day all.
I finally had a game of Battlegroup Overlord after a break of many months. My opponent was a jolly decent sport even though he suffered from some very unfortunate dice rolls and chits drawn. It was a 350 point game with some fairly dense Normandy terrain including a fair amount of bocage. My opponent took the German force and I took a British force with a veteran commando platoon as its core.

I hope you enjoy the pictures, there's loads more on my blog : link

Above is the table from overhead before the game. At the centre of the table is the road, part of which is a sunken lane containing the central objective. As you can see it was fairly dense terrain wise for a 6' x 3' table. Germans came on from the right of picture and British from left.

British recce section takes the central objective, marked by the cow in the sunken lane.

German squad takes objective at their end of the table. Unfortunately for the Germans this was the only chit the British ended up taking, and it was a 1.

British recce section lurks in the bocage in the sunken lane. They made a couple of attempts to call in 4.2" Mortar fire, mostly unsuccessfully- but did manage a pin on a Panther & MG team.

PIAT team takes out the 222 as it attempts to dart into the lane.

Germans move up armour and infantry into the bocage.

Churchill didn't end up firing a shot, spending most of the time on ambush.

A great time was had, and hope to plan more games in the future.

Always a pleasure looking at your minis and table!

Did I spot a German Spy? At least I'm pretty suspicious of that not so innocent looking cow; I'd swear its listening in to the radio: That is if it had a head!

Perfectly innocent, she's just listening in to the BBC weather report ;-)
No, it's not Sleepy Hollow, this cow definitely has a head, it's bent down grazing the grass. The bovines are from the Pegasus farm animals set, very useful.

Cows as objectives---first time I've seen that. Brts must have had a nice BBQ at the end of the game!

LoL…I guess if you're standing in an open field all day this might be a worthwhile thing to do ;)

Your roads are excellent sir.

Yes, the roads are great. Where'd you get them please?

War Panda16 Feb 2014 1:37 p.m. PST

They're Battlefront roads… FoW

jacksarge16 Feb 2014 4:12 p.m. PST

Yes, Battlefront roads, I just repainted them to fit in with the earth tones I use on my basing etc. Even though designed for 15mm FoW, they work really well for 20mm.
