This afternoon I fought the first battle in my Malaya campaign project, the Battle of Changlun, you can read the AAR here on my blog:

Nice AAR!

I've gamed a few of these (Malaya and Burma) scenarios, and I find that the presence of armour in the Japanese OOB is a real force multiplier given that (for Malaya and early Burma) most Commonwealth forces are very lightly equipped to stop them.

And if you think Malaya is bad, try the Sittang river battle…

Very entertaining, and it was good to see your Japanese in action. Tough luck on the dice rolling, things could have gone much better if you had somehow appeased the Dice Gods. Maybe a sacrifice would be in order. grin

Oh well, perhaps the Japs will have a more difficult time when they run into the Ghurkas.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you liked the AAR!

@Phil, yep, I was hoping for a better performance from the AT guns at least, but armour just kept rolling on!

@TJ, I think maybe sacrificing Dean would help… We are planning on playing the next battle tomorrow!

Where did you get the Sayce book from?
And is your campaign linking the battles in some way?

Abwehrschlacht15 Feb 2014 1:31 p.m. PST

Hi Yoakley, it came from Cavalier Books, but I think it may have been their last copy, or they had very few in. I tried to order the others from them but was told they had sold out unfortunately. The volume I have covers the battles of Jitra, Gurun, Kampar and the Slim River. My campaign will follow the source book as it links the battles together.

Thanks. I'll look out for it.

Once again very nice AAR and you do a very good job putting the reader at the table. Add on we are both fans of RF and a very enjoyable read.

Thanks Marc! It's good to hear people like my writing. There is another AAR coming later today, I'll post a link on TMP later!

Always glad to know there are other people playing the Malaya campaign and not just me and my wife….though oddly enough she prefers Burma where her Grants and Honeys can blow away my Chi-Has.
