A Horse if a Horse of Course of Course Unless You Have to Paint Loads of the Bleeders Part II !

Here's the second in the feature on how to paint up horses as quickly as possible and still have them look OK on the table top…

And the link to my Gewalthaufen Blog:

I painted up a bunch of 6mm Cav and know how much fun and challenging horse painting can be. Had to look a real pics just to see how horses colorings, patterns, etc, really look. I've see a lot of horses at the county fair. But still had to look at pics to get it "right" …

Being a city kid, learning to paint realistic horses was a challenge. You've done a very nice job of walking (trotting? :} ) through the steps. I use horse books from the childrens section at the local library. These tend to have big glossy pictures that help with details and shading. Thank you for posting.

So it basically comes down to drybrushing and washes I understood.

Hi BelgianRay,

Apologies for not replying earlier but I've had a lot of stress in my life of late.

Yeah, this is most definitely not how I would normally paint up a horse. It's usually a much more intricate process for me.

I just needed a convincing way of painting up horses quickly and neatly so that they could take their place in the Battle of Fornovo Demo game that I have planned for Salute at some point.

Hope that clarifies things?

Thanks to everyone else who has commented on the article.

Dry brush the edge of the stockings as unless someone is painting a show horse there is usually not a hard line in the border of the stocking tending to merge color instead.
