Just looking for a bit of information on some of the less well known kit used in Iraq. I know that the Challenger 2, Warrior,Snatch and WMIK landrovers were used and I have come across pictures of Saxons (although I'm not sure how much they would have been used). Were other CVRT-family vehicles used like the Sultan or the Samaritan? If anyone can also point me in the direction of books, websites or photos for painting reference then that would be even better. |

One Telic 1 we had a Saxon as a staff mover with HQ 7 Armd Bde. (It broke its axle before crossing the border!) 432 series, Sultan, Samaritan, and Striker all used. Back with a UAV Bty in 2005 in Al Amarah the Inf Bn had Saxon IS variant with the foldey out shields on the sides. Tally Ho! |

Thanks very much Nick – I'd heard the Saxons could be a bit fragile! Do you know if the standard 432 was used before the uparmoured bulldog version came into use in 2006? |

The 432 were the command/signals variant and of course the standard 432 for the Mortar Plt:
