So this guy does videos about weapons and armor from ancient to medieval periods(and a few videoes about renesasne and muskets)

He also makes videoes dissy bad movies like Helen of troy and ironclad. He is as nerdy as any of us wargamers, if you think napoleoinc wargamers are button counters, you should see this guy.

He does have some opinions that might lead to debates.
He is absolutly sure that hoplites did not normaly fight with spears overhand. but underhand. he also thinks pike and shot pikemen rearly fought other pikemen.

He is also sure that linothoraxes are not linothoraxes, but made of leather. all this he talks about in his videoes.

I stayed up late one night watching that guy's vids. He's got some interesting points.

I believe he also plays wargames (or at least used to)--Crossfire being one of them.

Really doubt he has a handle on pike and shot close combat. Maybe toward the end of the 1600s when pike ratios had dropped to 1 pike for every 3 musketeers pikes may have had only a defensive value against Horse. During the Thirty Years War and earlier these guys were expected to preform close in offensive work. He makes a case that did not have shields but they did wear breast plates and armoured tassets covering their thighs for some reason (maybe to avoid some injuries while being poked at with pikes). Also when the pike and shot blocks closed the opposing wings of shot used the muskets as clubs and joined the melee hardly the type of reaction you would expect if the pikemen were just standing around glaring at each other.
