Would the shields have been so curved at the bottom? Or is this a case of artistic license maybe to emphasize? Nice finds Druzhina! |

There is a lot of real life detail in there – even the privy hanging over the wall near the round tower on the right has brown stains running down the wall underneath! |

There is a depth of research in Ian Heath's books, but I would not assume that Ian Heath did the in-depth research. Someone may have poured over hundreds of Spanish paintings to find portrayals of military equipment and written a book, which is probably in one of Ian Heath's bibliographies, and this book may be the source of the image of the painting above.
