Can anyone tell me who makes 28mm mounted officers that are nice enough to be based individually on a display base. Something with sharp detail and personality. This is to be an award given as a "Gamer Of The Year" award and I would like to make sure it is nice. Thanks Jim |

Dixon minis do, they are not to everyone's tastes but they do paint up nicely and have bags of character, and can be bought separately and not in packs

Both Perry and Foundry make some rather nice personality packs for the ACW. I think Redoubt do as well. |

I like the poses on the Perry mounted officers. Very dynamic. |

Sash and Saber has the added advantage of selling you ONE general! You might also want to look at Old Glory 2nd Edition |

The problem with most mounted officer packs are the Horses. I have the Perry mtd Union General pack with Meade, Hancock and Doubleday and while the figures are fine the horses are undersized. I also have Redoubts Lee and the horse is in an unnatural pose. I have taken to remounting them on Perry's ACW plastic cavalry which have better horses and also on one spare Mark Fenlon horse that I made the tack for. I don't know why the plastic horses are generally better than the metal but they are. |
