These are the fish-like aircraft I'm talking about, though they look more like hovering triops to me:

At one time I even was thinking of removing the rotor and making extensive modifications to this Hot Wheels Batcopter:

Go for it. I specialize in that sort of thing. In fact it makes up for half the fun of gaming.

I just wish I could find clearer screenshots or, better yet, concept art drawings that I could use for such a project.

I don't know how your scratch building techniques are but I started young. Sometimes you have to wing it and use a bit of artistic license when you do this. I want to find a sample of this helicopter now and try out an idea floating in my head.

Didn't see the movie, but from the pics you've provided, looks to me like you could just convert an AV8B Harrier to that, by adding a twin tail.

The overall fuselage shape, and wings appear about right, as does the air intake positioning.

Yeah, that's a directed thrust vehicle (Harrier with a bigger attitude and shorter range). I'd love to see some sleeker beasts than what GZG has.

I'm not sure whether I'd mess with a Harrier kit or that Hot Wheels toy to make the one you're showing, CC.

Clear Horizons new model Sparrowhawk has a similar tailpiece & could work for you. Looks like you'd need to add wings. TMP link

Those look cool!

You guys might be right though. Starting with the Batcopter might be the wrong thing.

Now, if I made this model with a half moon front out of styrene sheets, and just added the right tail, that might produce something similar to the Triop-like aircraft in the film, don't you think?

Is that sufficiently Triop-like?
