I was wary of Dario Argento's 'homage' to the Hammer films starring Christopher Lee after seeing that it only had an 11% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but it's far from unwatchable if you embrace it for the cheesy B-movie that it is. Campy, filled with gothic atmosphere, splashy fake blood and buxom vampires including Asia Argento, 'Argento's Dracula' is worth a rental. |

Just had a look at the trailer, it looks, err, different. Don't recall a giant preying mantis in any previous version. Although for something that is the epitome of Gothic, the scenes seem curiously bright, I'd have expected more thought to go into the lighting. Looks like quite a bit of it is done with green screen. From a cheesy perspective it looks like fun though. |

Argento is always a bit of a mixed bag
but there is just about always something cool that makes them worth watching. Just don't go for the acting or lucid storytelling. |
