Is there a good book or Web site where I can find out about this. I'm pretty well covered on the Prussians and Austrians. |

Depends exactly what you are looking for, but Helion books is a good site to start looking on. 1866 is something of a specialism of the owner. There is certainly a booklet on the Armies of 1866 by ? Smith which is pretty good on uniform details. Also useful on the look of the armies is the set of 1930s cigarette cards on the Wars of Unification, I think by Knotel and Lezius, which is illustrated on the grossergeneralstab site. Good luck! Woah -sorry guys I dozed off for a minute there. Yes Royal -great book and I wasn't diappointed!! I'm quite taken with the Hanoverian army as they seemed pretty tasty but I remember the series in Airfix magazine where they converted loads of stuff from Airfix soldiers (naturally) |

I have to dig it out, but I have all you need on the Armies of Hanover and Bavaria. They sit high on my to do list. |

Lancashire Games do them in 15mm and paint up really nicely. |

I have found out that the Bavarians wore different hats in 1866 and 1870 -that's not very helpful of them frankly. I'd like to do this in 28mm. Thanks Stracm -that would be great. |

It will take me a couple of days to dig the information out. I will let you know when it is available and I can arrange an email or ftp exchange. The Bavarians were quite different in 1866 to those of 1870. The cavalry didn't change much at all, but both the infantry and artillery exchanged the helmet for a peaked cap for campaign and the infantry kit was quite different in 1866. |
