"AMC's increasingly bleak zombie survival drama The Walking Dead returns on Sunday with a midseason premiere that promises to be–somehow–even darker than before. The first half of Season 4 seemed a bit redundant after Season 3, but it ended with a bang that sent the survivors from the prison scattering to the winds and into parts unknown. It also left us with a multitude of burning questions: How will they find their way back together, and where are they headed next now that the prison has fallen? Will the exiled Carol rejoin the crew, and how will the vengeful Tyreese react if she does? Is baby Judith really and truly dead? Are there any characters who don't demand an adjective before their name? We've taken a look at our Magic 8-Ball–as well as all the recent teasers and interviews with showrunner Scott Gimple and franchise creator Robert Kirkman–to find the answers

Elmo, you left out the parts in Episodes 3, 6 and 7 where someone does something really stupid. |

Got to agree with Elmo and John OFM
After the last episode of last season with the M60 Tank
they pretty much lost me. I was on fence from the beginning. I'll admit I'm not really a big zombie-phile

Oddball | 08 Feb 2014 11:45 a.m. PST |
The tank is right out to the book series. The results of the attack on the prison were changed a bit, but that's how the story line went. |

Here's the other prediction, The Walking Dead will remain the #1 cable TV show all through the second half episodes. |

Didn't read the comic books, but it still is an interesting fact about their #1 rating
But hey
do what works for you, not me

Tin, how about "The Breaking Young, Bad and Restless Dead"? |

Take a hint from Game of Thrones. The hidden motto is "Valar Morghulis". Translated from High Valyrian, that means "Every man dies." |

"worst.show.ever." Really? In a universe with Kardashians, Law and Order: SVU, Bill Maher and dozens of other crappy TV shows, you pick The Walking Dead? I am curious as to how it got there. Thanks, Pat |

I agree with most of your choices Pat. However, I like Law and Order

Watched both the 9th and 10th episodes last night back-to-back, loved them both, felt like I was there with them at times, was really nice to be back in the apocalypse with them. I'm not one for crying over fictional characters in any series, drama, film etc etc but it felt like I was home again
Anyhoo, roll on the rest of the series, and onto the 5th and 6th series too

"And some people can appreciate a character-driven show." I can appreciate a character-driven show (Big Bang Theory is a classic example), but those characters have to act in consistent ways. And in WD, they frequently don't. Look at Lauri's behavior (a couple seasons ago, at the Farm): First she tells Shane to back off, she doesn't want him near. Then she seeks him out, and asks why he is aloof. Then she tells to get away. Just bouncing from one extreme to another, no consistency. |

"First she tells Shane to back off, she doesn't want him near. Then she seeks him out, and asks why he is aloof. Then she tells to get away. Just bouncing from one extreme to another, no consistency." And that is just how people of either sex react in that situation when their feelings are not resolved on way or the other. I love the show and forgive many of its foibles but I agree on the condemnation of their not having a rally point. However, I also try to imagine how it would be living in that world day in day out and I am thinking that you could let a whole lot of details fall through the cracks. And also become too tired or befuddled to fight off a handful of zeds in a given situation. |

Walking Dead does a pretty bad job regarding really getting into the characters. Usually they just show a flashback and then have the character act erratically. Not really character driven. The show does its best work in quiet scenes, which it basically never has. And how you clump Bill Maher with the Kardashians is beyond me. |
Patrick Sexton | 24 Feb 2014 7:25 a.m. PST |
Because they are both/all a waste of air as will as air time? As to Law and Order: SVU, that had more to do with what I consider some over wrought acting. A couple of the episodes I have watched bordered on 'Showgirls'in that department. Anyway, The Walking Dead has always entertained me and sometimes even been very moving, that is all I can ask from a show and it delivers it. Thanks, Pat |
