I have a nice 20mm collection, almost all figs and guns being AB. But I assembled all my vehicles very haphazard, so the scales are all over the map. I'm thinking of selling off my vehicles and redoing them with strong focus on same manufacturer or those that really match. Any thoughts on which direction to go? |

I love all my Milicast stuff, but it's at the top end in price. And it's 1/76 so it doesn't match the majority of 20mm lines out there which are almost all 1/72. |

As long as you match vehicle types from the same company then it'll be OK to mix n'match, eg get all your Shermans from PSC and specialist AVRE's from Airfix or Britannia etc
..I have all different makes in my collection but always try to follow the above rule
.all of myT34's are from Frontline except for the T34/85's- they look slightly bigger in reality and on the table. |

Yes, that's what I meant. I'm going to just stick with 1-2 lines that will all match. I actually have a few Milicast. They are very nice, but I think those are the ones with tons of pieces and are almost like model building. My talent level is more toward less tiny parts. Everything I do is going to be 1944-45 Western Front. |

I'm in the midst of a massive expansion of my 20mm collection and have be sampling a number of the new "fast build" kits. So far, the best have been PSC and 20mm Zone. They have excellent detail and good prices. I would definitely stick to one company per vehicle, however. |

I'd say you have two options; get all the stuff you want from one manufacturer, or, have a look around and pick the one you like best from whichever manufacturer. |

Wow, Milicast is a lot more intricate now. Around 20 years ago I bought a Milicast Sherman V and it was just 2 pieces, a hull with suspension and a turret. Now they look pretty intricate. |

Hi – I got into the same mix Duke – same 1944-5 period too. I separated my 1/76 and 1/72 out first, and build two very different German forces! I tried to stick to 1/76 for everyone else (British, US, Finnish, Hungarian, Romanian.) The sheer fact that this is possible makes 1/76 the overall winning scale for me. Now with about 1,000 vehicles, I feel I have 'paid my dues'! The best general advice is from Gaz0045 – stick to a manufacturer within a vehicle type. Some discoveries: German Halftracks – go 1/72. Hasegawa, PSC, Dragon, Esci are EXACT equivalents. For 250s Esci and Blitzkrieg are close. No 1/76 supplier really matches up with another. Frontline and Milicast are the smallest. Panzer IV chassis – BEWARE – this is the most inconsistent of all. Milicast are too narrow AND too small even in 1/76 to match anyone else. Matchbox, Fujimi and Airfix match in 1/76. In 1/72 its all over the place, and no-one does em all. PSC are huge and incompatible with all others except maybe outsize diecasts. Shermans: consistent in 1/76, but widely varying in 1/72. You can 'kitbash variants easily in 1/76, but its a different game altogether in 1/72. Skytrex: Some vehicles are pure 1/76. Some are over 1/72! Examples of the latter are Bren carriers. You have to take the rough with the smooth. 20mm Zone have bought the moulds. They HAVE NOT rescaled! |

The Battlefield range from Milicast has very few pieces . If I am confident in knowing were the pieces go ie Model number 2 onwards, I can get these built under an hour quite easily. The Humber Scout Cars take about 5 mins to get ready for prepping :) The biggest job on the tracked vehicles in the above range is sawing off the waste resin blocks . My only little niggle with Milicast. Otherwise they are top top models from a top company from a top bloke .:) |

Anybody know who carries Brittania WW2 fig in the US?? |
MiniatureUnited7 | 16 Feb 2014 7:32 p.m. PST |
I thought 1/72 was more common
Esci however needs to be bought off eBay

Italeri now reproduces most of the ESCI line, Italeri, Revell, Dragon, Trupeter, UM all match well, some Hasegawa (Sherman is WAY too big) work too. PSC is also good. |
