Just thought some of you might be interested in some classic modern (WWII) war game rules from 1957. The author is A.W. Saunders (Cousin of Lionel Tarr).

The rules make for an interesting read and shed a little light onto the (possible) origins of the Lionel Tarr / Carl Reavley rules.

Visit Table Top Talk to read the rules (as well as some A.W. Saunders background information): tabletoptalk.com/?p=1043

Similar to many of the early rules I wrote!

Brilliant. Rule number 8 is an important one, troops in full cover take no casualties from small arms fire.

So you can actually suppress targets in these by forcing them to take cover, rather like the 'full cover' rule in AHGCs 'Tobruk'.

Mr Saunders was however a recaster:)

I do not know who came first, Saunders as a wargamer or Tarr. I known that Don said Saunders was a loner, where as Tarr and Featherstone travelled to many games together.
