topsideminis.com On Saturday night I placed an order for their WWI Falklands set of 16 ships and got them in the mail today. Fast shipping in a sturdy box. The printing on the peel-stick counters is fantastic, the plywood bases are excellent, and my son is stoked by them. He kept going "Ooooo" every time we looked at a new sheet of ships. (He is almost 23 and loves WWI.) Communication was also great. Highly recommend them. Makes casual WWI and WWII naval "miniature" gaming affordable.
BTW not for self-promotion or anything, but I'll be chronicling our naval gaming at my blog. I'm glad to get the word out about these fellows and their nice products. ordinarygaming.blogspot.com |

CPBelt I admit they look very good but for me I rather have the real miniatures. These remind me of the AH Jutland game and eventhough I liked that game I would never call them minis they're nice looking counters. |

yes they are counters. Great looking ones, but not miniatures. It is fine of course to play any way you want. Gaming is the goal! |

Personally, I call them counters, but they call them miniatures. No big deal to me either way. It's all in the marketing lingo, I guess. I looked at the A&A figures on the secondary market and just about passed out at the prices for the "rare" figures, and I'm a guy who owns 100s of Heroclix. At the rate I paint things, it would take me into my next lifetime to paint 16 ships--and I might die the second time before finishing them! So this was an easy way to get my son excited about some naval gaming. He is graduating from college in May and going into the workplace. Who knows where the wind will take him. I figure I got only a little bit of time left with my gaming buddy, so I want to make the most of it while I can. |

Splendid looking counters. Miniatures are always my first choice, however, if you want to get into a secondary genre fast these counters are a great way to go. Best I've seen out there. |
