I'm trying to work out if a Kickstarter project is viable and would like to get some prices from sculptors on prices for 28mm late twentieth century but I have no idea how to get hold of them. I've got a couple of names in mind but where would I find contact details? Contact companies that have used them maybe? Suggestions please. |

You can check out my portfolio here: link A lot of sculptors have websites or blogs, you just have to spend some time Googling. Posting here or other forums works pretty well. I got a number of commissions from posting on TMP. Just remember that sculpting isn't cheap. Many sculptors do this for a living or to supplement their income and it takes time to do a decent sculpt. Many sculptors are in the $15 USD-$20 per mm area. The better or more well known the sculptor the more you'll probably pay. But then again you can always negotiate prices. |

Over the years there have been people who have attempted to make a master sculptor list. Some even went as far as making a portal in which to transact projects. But nothing really panned out. It's an "archaic" of who you know and sending emails. You can also do Google searches, message boards etc
So there are various sculptors out there ranging from newbies to pros (price will range in similar fashion). Are you looking for a hard line sculptor or organic sculptor? Are you looking for a one off or a range? The pros typically have a schedule for months out and it's their full time job, the newbies might do it as a hobby and have no waiting period. But like all things – you get what you pay for. Good luck. I myself am a sculptor, and even when I don't fit the bill I will likely know a sculptor who will. Hi, Im new to this board. i find this an interesting question, as a freelance designer/modeller I have the complete opposite to ask " Where should freelancers advertise to get work?". i plan on a milshot to as many manufcaturers as possible to start with. I think it would be a good thing to have a For Hire section on TMP for people like mysleves to get our work seen and help people like ascent take the slog out of doing the Google thing. anyone else agree?. lee-ray.com |
