Hello, I have read somewhere that the Prussians did actually have a small number of warships during the Napoleonic era. The clues point to it consisting of a few 64-gun ships and some frigates. What I really want to find out at the moment is what were the names of these ships? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, TW |

Here is all you need: The so called " kleine Königliche Flotille" is th fleet which operated against france under GeneralLeutnant Rüchel. After 1815 do you have the real build up of the Fleet under the supervision of officer Longé.

There was the Prussian Incursion of 1806 against Ireland , in which John Jameson sunk the entire Prussian fleet. |

Nope he didn't sink the ENTIRE fleet, he sunk the flagship thus stopping the Prussian Incursion of 1806. Get your history right |

You're both wrong. Jameson did sink just the apparent flagship but it was the Prussian Incursion of 1807. |

The Prussians rather gave up on the naval side of things. In 1759 the Prussians lost their naval force of converted fishing boats (Zosekahne) and timber trade vessels (Kopenhagenfahrer) under the Duke of Brunswick-Bevern were soundly beaten by the Swedes. As the result of this defeat Frederick declared he wanted 'the first Europe rather than the worst fleet of the maritime powers.' His successors followed this principle. Consulting Eric Groner's "Die deutschen kriegsshiffe 1815 – 1945' I note that there are no Prussian vessels listed as having been constructed prior to 1815 and very few before 1850. If there were any vessels they would have been coastal vessels only like those of the 7YW. To the OP – no frigates and certainly no 64. Sorry. |

To the OP – no frigates and certainly no 64. Sorry. So it would seem. I thought it was too good to be true. |

I asked this before. They had some privateers. Hold on I'll see if I can dig up the old thread. |

Didn't Heller have a model called the 'Wappen von Hamburg' sometime back in the early 60's? I seem to recall having built it when I was a kid. Sounds Prussian to me. It was a two or three decker, but I can't remember the time period. |

Wapappen von Hamburg was built in 1669 for the City State of Hamburg. |
