I had my first game of Tomorrow's War earlier today and played it solo against Khurasan's Space Demons. As I play solo I came up with some rules to drive the aliens based on them being unthinking killing machines. I love to hear any thoughts, improvements as these are still pretty much a work in progress. You can find them on my blog – sologamer.co.uk/solo-rules-aliensspace-demons-tomorrows-war |

Sounds right to me. The Space Demons are a great choice of opponent for solo play. Your choice of responses are well done. Do you have any special rules for Hammerheads? I thought they might spray a jet of acid out to optimal range, or maybe 1/2 optimal or similar. This would give a little fire-power to the xenomorphs. Also, your rules would work for 'arachnid-like' alien bugs. They might still drag away casualties for the hive larder, or possible eat the casualties immediately. |

rvandusen – nothing for the hammerheads and I don't plan to use them just yet though they could use the jet just before going into close assault or maybe act as a support unit for other aliens, providing suppressing fire for them or softening up an enemy unit before another brood goes in to close assault. In that case then they could move slightly differently, always staying behind other broods then firing just before a brood close assaults an enemy. Possibly have them as part of a brood in the same way human units would have a SAW or LMG attached? I plan to have my alien hives become more intelligent as they grow bigger so hammerheads could become available once it reaches a certain size? Maybe even starting out in groups of hammerheads then changing to being attached as the hive learns from its enemy tactics. Making this up as I type it so let me know if anything doesn't make sense. :) |

Those are some neat possibilities as far as hammerheads are concerned. I like the idea of the Space Demons evolving in response to their enemies. Besides spraying acid, I was also thinking the hammerheads could be like those soldier termites that spurt a sticky substance over invading ants. In the case of Space Demons they will prefer to drag away prey to use as larval hosts, so maybe some kind of sticky trap would be more logical? |
