I have seen references to 40 pounders during the Victorian colonial period. However I have only seen one picture. I would like to add this gun, probably elephant drawn. Could anyone tell me a 15mm model that will pass for this piece??

Hinchliffe did a fantastic elephant dearn RML 40 pouner back in the 70s.

Not a help in finding one (I now have about 9 of them) but it gives you a good idea of what it looks like

Yes, I had a couple (still have the guns), but they were in 20mm scale. Now, that wasn't so bad back in the day when "Hinche's" were among the first to practice scale creep, so these figures work well with 25mm MiniFig/Ral Partha/Frontier and the others of that era.

So where are the molds for these now, and who has the rights?

These could still sell again, even at current casting prices.

Irregular seem to do an Elephant with limber – not sure if they also do a 40pr gun though.

TVAG – Yes, I meant to say 20mm. Some of us have been looking for the moulds for the Hinchliffe 20mm equipment range for years – they are absolutely exquisite.Skytrex always said they never had them and in fact claimed they had never existed. It's a great shame – if you have seen the results 20mm Zone are achieving with new moulds from the original Hinchliffe masters for the WW11 range they purchased from Skytrex, Frank Hinchliffe's masters of this range must have been something to see. There were 21 items in total, including a couple of ECW guns, two elephant sets (one with the 40 pdr, the other with the 6.3" howitzer), these two guns without the elephants, a colonial baggage waggon (which I have never seen) and the rest all Napoleonic pieces.

Also should have said, the heavy guns in the elephant sets have two positions for the barrels on the carriages – a forward firing position, and a travelling position further back. All mine are glued in the firing position which is the best compromise I could come up with, but really the towed guns should be in the travelling position.
