I accidently found a site with decals for backpacks, cartridge pouches, etc. for line, grenadier and light troops but have been unable to remember the site's name or relocate it after searching for it. Any help here?

Amazed you didn't favourite it right then.

Flags of War used to sell them but I just checked their site and they appear not to sell them any more.

About two years ago,I purchased a bunch of British and American back pack and water bottle decals for my War of 1812 units from Flags of War. In terms of their application they were not very good ie. despite following the instructions they would rarely adhere and those that did would fall off as they dried out. Had to glue most of them in the end.

I am going experiment with decal sol/set etc. to see if I can get better results. Emailed FoW several times and never got a reply. Knuckleduster still sells them on their web site.

You can buy decals for some Napoleonic 28mm figures (highlander kilts back pack bottle decals and hussar sabretaches) a at Battle Flag

No, that link's not it. That takes you to an un-owned web-site.

Victrix Limited has a very large range of canteen, backpack, cartridge box and sergeant stripe transfers.

Apparently you're right, I hadn't noticed that he dropped them.

I found it helped to spray them with Testor's "Decal Bonder Spray" before using them. I had this on hand from a decal-making kit they sell (more about that later). Before they tended to fall apart and/or lose their ink. But I am having better results now, by:
1. Spray them with the Testor's stuff
2. Paint the area where the decal is going with a flat white paint
3. Cut out the decals as closely as possible
4. Put the decal in the water
5. Put a drop of Microset on the figure where the decal's while it's in the water
6. Pick up the decal on something flat – a #11 Xacto blade works great
7. Use a toothpick to gently push the decal off the paper onto the figure – if you can catch the edge of the decal instead of the top it works better, but takes some practice
8. Very gently push the thing into position
9. (Sometimes) put a bit more Microset on top the decal
10. (Sometimes) hit it with a hair drier – this helps melt the decal a bit (which is what the Microset is also doing) to make it conform to the surface.
11. Breath for the first time in 10 minutes.

The problem I have with them now is that I am using them on the new Front Rank "reinforcement pack" figures, and they seem to be larger than the figures the FoW decals were designed for. The canteen ones are OK, size-wise, but the regimental numbers on the backpack look kind of lost.

That said, I bought this little decal-making system:

And now I'm a decal-making fool, despite my totally mediocre printer. I did the Buffs' dragon for their backpacks and was quite pleased with the result. I may try backpack numbers for my next British battalion, as the FoW ones are, as I said, too small.

Mserafin; good info thanks for taking the time to repsond!

The decal making system looks intriguing. However, I don't think I have the dexterity or patience for it.

If it required dexterity or patience I wouldn't be able to do it, so that's no excuse wink
