Oh my, look what came in the mail today
Dinosaurs of the Lost World is a 1987 Avalon Hill board game I've wanted for ages. It is based on the novel The Lost World. Basically, you lead a team of explorers to the lost world, making discoveries and battling dinosaurs.
Sorry for the quality of the pics. I was using my iPad camera. Anyway, I paid $83 USD (that includes shipping) for this unplayed version – most of the components had not even been punched out. Everything looks new. Some people may think that price is high, but given you could easily pay $80 USD for a new board game these days, I think it was a bargain.
No, not really miniatures related but I'm guessing a lot of people here would be interested. I plan to give the game a couple playthroughs this weekend. I'll let you know what I think. Meanwhile, here is the link to BoardGameGeek page for the game: link |

I have a copy somewhere. We had some fun playing it, a good beer, soda-pop, and pretzels game. I'll have to dig it out again. |

Hey, if you enjoy it and have always wanted it, and it makes you happy, you paid the right price. |

No, not really miniatures related but You know
You can get dinosaurs for a dollar at Dollar Tree. (Or pay more at Michael's or Hobby Lobby.) Then, Pulp and Copplestone et al make big game hunters. Think of the boardgame as a campaign map for setting up miniatures scenarios. |

I've put up my review of the game on my blog. Spoiler: I liked it. prehistoricpulp.blogspot.com John, I've actually got a pretty considerable quantity of 28mm range dinosaurs and pulp/Victorian explorers. Your idea is a good one – you can turn the game into a sort of Adventures in Jimland. |
