I bought this nice looking church a few years ago from Hovel, and opted not to glue the steeple roof on. This was due to storage and transportation. I like throwing the model out on the table quite a bit, but the top kept getting knocked off by fellow gamers. I tried using Velcro and that just look horrible. I read another conversion using magnets and I figure I give it a shot. I used Forstner bits to cut into my model top and base. Went to my local Ace Hardware and bought the smallest size (7mm) in super magnets for a few bucks and I already had a 3/4" fender washer.

Drilling into the model was not bad, just go slow, so you don't drill too deep.

Now we are looking good on the table. I didn't take a picture of it, but I was able to turn the model upside down without any issues.

A very innovative solution!

It's given me some inspiration for my 1/35 scale plastic armor track commanders atop their closed hatches.

That is a great solution!

Thanks, I plan on doing something similar with figures I have riding in wagons, coaches, etc.

Be careful when drilling into plastic.
