My first issue of Warhammer Visions arrived today. I really wanted it to be good. The entire thing is full page photos of miniatures in miniature environments. One short descriptive paragraph is on each page, in three languages. Sample: "Gandalf is an old and powerful wizard" (same in Spanish) (same in German) It took a second look to notice the battle report. It is certainly not the battle report format I am used to. Imagine a battle report with single paragraph (sentence) descriptions. (same in Spanish) (same in German) And no tactical symbols like arrows and the like. I will be canceling my subscription tomorrow. On a brighter note the new weekly WD was interesting. But maybe thats because I play Dwarves. |

What format is the mag? Same as before or A5? |

I received mine too. Worthless and I will not buy a subscription after my old WD one runs out. |

By all accounts, A5, and the print comes off on your backside. |

I'm going to give the weekly White Dwarf a shot (yes, overall it's more expensive but on a per week basis I can shell out $4 USD), but I'm not bothered about Visions at all. I don't hold John Blanche in the same awe that others appear to, and I really don't think his miniature painting and conversion skills are all that either. Shades of George Lucas syndrome going on there I feel! |

So the much ballyhooed page-count increase is really a reflection of printing one copy of the magazine in three languages? |

for those who haven't seen warhammer visions: YouTube link really wondering how many issues they'll publish before it gets axed :-) |

The entire thing is full page photos of miniatures in miniature environments. What the hell did you expect? This is coming from GW and they took a great gaming magazine and destroyed it. As expected this is nothing but a piece of fanboyz paid advertisement. No articles just petty pictures of the models that they want to get you to buy. Crap, Crap, and more Crap. |

Seeing the vid, I have a vision how this magazine will fare
|

It's in German, French and English, not in Spanish. |

for those who haven't seen warhammer visions:YouTube link I might have watched the whole thing if the sound quality didn't get on my nerves. I couldn't make out half of what he was saying. I don't want to have to work at listening to a video. |

Hmmmm
.. So I have a subscription to White Dwarf so my young son and I can share some fantasy wargaming – I've not yet convinced him of the merits of historical gaming. What happens now to my subscription? Dont really want a book of photos with captions. Just want White Dwarf with a bit of everything bundled in. Is this what the weekly mag is going to be – can I subscribe to just that then? Not clear on the GW Site I'm afraid. |

Nick – get your son to play the Rome:Total War computer game, and then hook him on the cheap Warlord plastics
it worked for my son and his friends, especially after they saw the price differences! ;) |

What happens now to my subscription? You will get the Warhammer Visions. Which is nothing but crap. Sorry but that is GW for you. |
Mithmee | 31 Jan 2014 9:28 a.m. PST |
Oh and the Weekly White Dwarf is also crap. Just more pictures of the petty overprice models that they want you to buy. |

The weekly is FAR better than the Visions – it actually has rules in it now, this week for a dwarf character model, and this is not a one-off (allegedly). The weekly is where everything I used to read from the old monthly mag ended up. |

Yes and the new Dwarf Book will have the same bit of rules. That new weekly White Dwarf is only to put focus on the new models. So with Nids just coming out and the Dwarves being next what you get is pictures of both. You want to see what a really good issue of White Dwarf should look like. Go and get any issue from #100-#170, like #112 & #113 which has Space Hulk in it, or issue #127 which was the Eldar coming out issue. Those are good, that little tiny Weekly WD is nothing but a paid advertisement and the Vision is just you paying for petty pictures. Which by the way you can get for free by doing a google search. |

Visions can go jump in a lake for sure. Oh I and started collecting WD from issue #18 (the ST:TMP one, back in 1979) so I'm well aware of how good it used to be and how far down it has sunk :) |

Warhammer Visions, eh? It sounds like they finally solved the problem of mind numbing articles and depthless prose that has always plagued White Dwarf. Now, no more writing at all! |
Mithmee | 17 Feb 2014 11:04 p.m. PST |
Oh it actually has a few pages that have writing on it. But only a few. |
