Just a quick update . I finally completed My stay behind late Roman force for Dux bellorum. The army is mainly converted Kallistra 12mm figures . You can see the pictures on my webpage at

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm so pleased I settled on 10/12mm for this project. The figures are big enough to have individual character (that I'm capable of painting) but small enough to pack a good quantity on each base. It's ideal for this period.

The shields designs are from LittleBigmen For the shieldwall I used decals from several 15mm sheets and made new shields to fit the decals that I cut down in cases to avoid them being too big. I went for decals designed for "small" 15mm. Others are LBM 10mm decals for the pendraken oval shields again I made shields to fit the decals. .
