We had a bit of a disastrous beach landing FOW game at Metropolitan Wargamers this past weekend. On the plus side, we all learned a lot and the sand table looked great. Check out the AAR and lots of pics on Brooklyn Wargaming here:

Tough game -- but a great battle report! Cool pics!

I like the "Sand Table" background/history.

Well done.

I think there's serious issues with the FoW scenario, to be honest. I had the same situation when I played it. Bad rolls to get units up to the beach and the US player is pretty much guaranteed to lose.

I'd suggest scripted waves arriving, and then some semi-random movement distance to get onto the beach, much like how the Battlegroup mission plays.

Question on the sand tables: are you using spray cans to color the 'grassy' areas?

The grassy areas were done with sprinklings of green flock and the roads were with dark brown.

Good tips on the US arrivals -- the beach is murderous with the FOW rules.

A really nice looking table. The pictures are interesting as well – very gritty!
