Here is a rigged Sails of Glory ship.

This was my first exposure to a SoG model, not bad but a little too toy like for my tastes. I was fascinated by the base paint job. Under magnifying glasses it looks pixelated, as if it was applied by some sort of 3d paint machine. It is not hand painted.

Or as Spock would say, "Fascinating!"

Looks great! Highlight on the sails is nice too. Interesting way you used the Langton brass ratlines. Are those for the 3D ships? I'm going to wait for the custom ratlines that Keith from the Sails of Glory Anchorage is producing. Hopefully by March.

Again, a great job!

Yes I think these were for '3D ships', they are Langton brass ratlines for a 74 gun ship. I had to cheat a little with black paint because they do not match perfectly

It takes some time to rig these, so you are probably better off waiting on the custom ratlines for SoG.

Nice work indeed! I'm blacking the yards, doing some custom painting on the tumblehomes, and adding some pennants but rigging and ratlines?!?!

No.. no just.. no

@Tankrider It is not hard but it is time consuming and a bit fiddly… if the masts were round and the sails detachable it would be much easier.

I think SoG is great for a gamer without mini skills who wants a mini game… a gateway drug if you will :)

I think the Langton models are better, but do require some skill to assemble and achieve a basic look that comes out of the box with SoG

It does look nice with the ratlines and taglines highlighted. And I like the crisp detail of the ports and guns. Now if a person could just remove those plastic bits from between the sails and the mast……..

I'm forced to agree with Volunteer. The supports between the sails and masts is all too obvious. Does look more tempting seeing the ratlines and rigging all being done.

I Can understand the "Out of the box and play" bit. But if the masts and sails where left off the hull. Could not most gamer's or a friend of the gamer glue sails to mast and mast to hull? That would get over the supports bit. I would be happier with the ships If they did that, and not have them 1-1000 scale.

I have a suspicion the boat is cast and painted in one fell swoop by a machine. If you can get a hold of one look at the paint under a magnifying glass the paint is pixilated as if it was 'printed on'

I agree with the comments on the sails, they make the model look like a toy.

That looks pretty good (and the image is in focus and well lit too). If they were in a standard scale (like 1/1200 or 1/2400) I would buy some.
