Hello all.
I am trying to find the 1:700 scale Meridian Napoleonic ships. Skytrex says Alnavco has them now, but Alnavco says the company is out of business. Does anyone out there know where the Meridian molds went? Who might own them now? I sincerely hope they weren't destroyed! Any Information will be appreciated.
Regards,

There was a whole long legal drama with the old Skytrex folding, and the ranges being divided amongst a new (and apparently completely different) Skytrex and a series of other companies.

The Meridian Trafalgar have gone to Navy Models & Books, who are not trading yet.

This is a blessing, as about a year ago I bought some of the last models that were available in this range from the last Skytrex, and the moulds were clearly far too worn to use and then sell the results. I was not impressed.

I hope and would assume Navy Models & Books are making new moulds from the masters.

Thanks for the info Muerto. I must have been looking at an old Skytrex page that indicated ALNAVCO had Meridian now, but it wasn't the case. I wonder how long it will take Navy Models and Books to even get their website going or if they're even planning to have one. If I had those masters I would have made the molds and started pumping ships out by now. But that's just me.

Thanks, let's hope something will come out of this.

Please post here or PM when and if the Navy Models & Books web site comes online.

I shall do.

I'm watching the page like a hawk – there are still War of 1812 actions that could be played (with some proxies) 200 years later to the very day, if only I get the ships on time.

This from the appropriate section of the now semi-functional website:

Thank you for visiting this category. These ships are not yet available. We hope to re-introduce them later in the year

Time to concern ourselves with other things.

8 of these are back in production, though not cheaper than the prices Skytrex had, as some had hoped. Quite the opposite, in fact.

£40.00 GBP a kit is eye watering and to me moves these kits firmly into the model making sphere than the wargaming world. 1:1200 is a more established scale and roughly one quarter (or less) than the price of these.

StarCruiser25 May 2014 8:44 a.m. PST

I don't think these were ever intended for wargaming anyway…
