Hi guys, I have been looking at some of the Games Day prototypes and work-in-progress from past years
Does anyone know what process this is? The large sculpts seem to be for production of the injection plastic masters but can anyone explain the process and reason for the initial large sculpt? Is this something only related to the plastic production or would this be used for smaller resin or white metal pieces? |

They are being either laser or wand scanned into 3D software for reduction and conversion so they can be broken up and laid out on spru trees for production. It is very tedious and this stepped will largely be done away with by several new 3D scanners coming on the market that make the scanning automatic. btw: The Perry twins do the same with their plastics originals. |
