As we enter the 150th Anniversary of the 1864 campaigns, ACW Gamer is looking for Anniversary Scenarios to publish in 2014.

1864 saw heavy fighting on every front and names like Olustee, Spotsylvania, Petersburg, Mobile Bay, Brice's Crossroads, Kennesaw Mountain, Franklin and many others were recorded in the annals of American military history.

If you have a scenario that you want to commemorate 1864 with, at any scale, please contact us at info@ACWGamer.com. Thank you!

The Hall of Heroes mob, in Campbelltown, NSW, are contemplating doing Petersburg, although we are a bit concerned about modelling the terrain…

That sounds promising!

We just did Olustee. Great battle, varied terrain, a lot of fun. Battle field relatively flat, swamp & a rail line.

Hi 14th NJ Vol! I've been interested in gaming Olustee and have found detailed maps, unit names and overall force strengths but have not been able to find an OOB that shows the individual regiment/battery strengths were you able to find out this detail? Can you please share this information? Thanks!

CaptainDarling24 Apr 2014 8:44 p.m. PST

From my research this is our OOB for the battle of Olustee using Longstreet rules is:

Third Brigade, Colonel Caraway Smith S V 8 bases
4th Georgia Cavalry, Colonel Duncan L Clinch
2nd Florida Cavalry, Lt Col A. H. McCormick (Col. C Smith)
5th Florida Cavalry Battalion, Major G.W. Scott

I'm still determining the types of guns and working out these two 'units':

Sections C & B, Third Rhode Island Art, Lt Henry H. Metcalf
Companies A & E, 1st NY Volunteers, Lt Col James F. Hall

It will be the biggest game we've tried with around 70 bases per side.

We will decide if the leaders get 'biography card' bonus when we set up.

Truman Seymour – reading his bio on the net his only standout 'trait' was leading the charge of fort seymour and getting wounded so no doubting his bravery!
Joseph Finegan – seemed to be a good admistrator and olustee seemed to show timidness with his reluctance to pursue the broken Yankees

The Union will be the attackers, we'll give them two objectives.

VPs will be applied per:
captured objectives
breaking the opposition

Thus if the Union can capture both objectives but break trying they will win.

Creating the board tonight and will play Sunday.

Cheers
Darling!
