Hi Guys
Ok, I'll admit it,.. I'm a fan of all things 'Zombie'.
The idea of mindless undead swarming over the countryside hell bent on destroying all in their path holds a particular fascination for me. Maybe it's the image of stalwart dogged survivors fighting it out in a post apocalyptic world or maybe it's just living in our nations capital where I'm convinced the 'Walking Dead' already hold sway, (particularly in Parliament).
Anyway I recently came across a game called 'ZOMBICIDE' and what a nifty BIG boxed game it is.
The game is produced by Guillotine Games and is an impressive collection of gaming 'Bits and pieces'.
It comes with 71 Miniatures consisting of 6 survivors, 65 'Zombies' (40 'Walkers', 16 'Runners', 8 'Fatties' and 1' Abomination'). There is also 9 Game Tiles that fit together to make the playing surface and of course Dice, Tokens, Cards and a very easy to read and learn rule book.
At a retail price of $120 USD it isn't cheap, but when you consider all the stuff you get its pretty good value for money. It's almost worth it just for the miniatures alone.
Yes they are plastic but they are very nice miniatures, well detailed and already based.

See the full review on my blog with also a comparison of the ZOMBICIDE miniature with the WARGAMES FACTORY survivors and Zombies and some EUREKA MINIATURES metals.

Very good, thanks for this trailape.

The figures look fantastic and the game itself looks very interesting.

The 'Walkers', 'Runners', 'Fatties', and 'Abomination' Zombies intrigue me – Zombies appear to have literally moved on from the slow-paced types first seen! Great!

From my (UK) perspective, I would dispense with the RPG, heavy weapons, etc., and fight it out in a typically British way with shotguns, cricket bats, and intelligence.

I'll give the game a go. Many thanks for posting.

I've never played Zombiecide or ATZ, but ATZ seems more like my kinda game (personal preference of course) From what I can glean from the reviews of Zombiecide it is a fast paced mash-em and smash-em type game with fast levelling up and literally hoardes of undead in ever increasing numbers (the faster your characters rank up the faster the reinforcements come) and great for an evening's entertainment.

ATZ could be played the same way I believe, but its geared up to be much more narrative based, campaign structured if you want and much more 'The Walking Dead' than a one-off game. For me its all about the narrative, the group progress and the story built around the survivors you have to game with.

I've been contemplating getting the 'Walk of the Dead' box set of Zombiecide minis to add to my hoardes of undead, and your review only seems to confirm they are worth it. Thanks for posting, your review was very informative!

ps: Oh, and I would also 'Britify' the action and go all shotguns, cricket bats and saucepans (ok, that's more Sam Gamgee than Shaun of the Dead but you get the idea..)

While a good review…why post in 15mm forum?

My friends and son and I love this game. We attended the CoolMiniOrNot Expo last year and played it all day…after which I had to buy it! It's a great game for replay, and you never know how its going to turn out. We've survived for multiple scenarios at times, and died within a few turns in others.

The game also has a good online following with excellent ideas and player created character cards, as well as additional custom made scenarios.

I can't wait until I can afford the expansions, Toxic Mall and Prison Outbreak.

Zombicide is without question my favorite board game(my nine year old son's too!). The game, as well as the 'cliche' zombie movie proxy heroes (everything from Ash to Machete, and yes, even chuck Norris) are really well thought out

Looks cool, nice marketing game in O box and price is not too bad for what you are getting.
