Hello, What are the best cheap, but good quality figures? Looking for some Ardennes Germans and US infantry for the Battle of The Bulge. For the US. Thanks, MU |

Yes, AB fantastic, but if you want inexpensive take a look at Caeser Miniatures 1:72 plastics |

Empress has a good, but limited range of GIs in great coats. Look also Battlefield/Blitz,US paras in winter coats and M43 jackets especially suited for your purpose. Service from Blitz is great. All this is lead, and not especially cheap, your choice depends on the quantity you can reasonably paint
I have no experince with plastics

1/72 plastics Revell, Airfix, Matchbox, Caesar etc etc |
Monophagos | 24 Jan 2014 6:36 a.m. PST |
Revell's offerings look to have been specifically designed for the Ardennes for both US and German infantry
.very good value. |

I would echo Monophagus. I'm painting up some of the Revell US figures right now and find them well detailed and nicely posed – and in winter uniform. The Italeri set in winter uniform look good as well, but I don't own these. link link |

Valiant are good, but oversize, though I note that the new Revell US may well fir in with them as they, too, suffer from scale creep. |

@ sparker, I have heard AB are good, but expensive
@ Bill Slavin, I have chosen the Revell US infantry. Now, for the Germans, any recommendations? MU |

Lots to choose from. I'd recommend going through this list: link The Pegasus sets are my favourite, although the write up pegs them more as 1943 Kursk. There is a bit of gluing with Pegasus, as well, and the plastic is a weird softish plastic – avoid the plastic-specific primers on these! The figures are slightly smaller than the Revell set but not a bad fit. Pegasus Waffen SS link link I like this set from Revell and would probably be the best fit with your Americans. My only complaint is that some poses are a bit flat, even for plastic figures. link The Italeri set is the right period and has a good range of weapons, but poses are a bit stiff. I gather there are other complaints as well, in reading the review. link |

The helmets on the Italeri Americans look very strange. Highly recommend the Blitz US troops, very nice and excellent service |

I was wondering, are there any cheap German tank commanders for putting the in the hatches? Thanks, MU |
Bill Slavin | 07 Feb 2014 7:24 a.m. PST |
The HaT German tank rider set has 8 commanders (2 poses) link |
MiniatureUnited7 | 08 Feb 2014 10:32 a.m. PST |
Yes, but I don't need tank riders
Are there sets just full of tank commanders? Preferably whole people? MU |
