With the Target clearance I got me the following inventory. What kind of squads can I put together?

Rebels
1 Millennium Falcon
2 X-wings
2 Y-wings
3 B-wings
1 A-wing

Imperium
1 Lamda Shuttle
5 Tie fighters
1 Advance tie fighter
1 Tie bomber
1 Tie intercepter

Falcon decked out with Han plus two rookie X-wings is fairly popular. I personally fly it with the Hawk and Jan to give him extra dice.

Awesome sauce!

I repainted all my micro machines. I have:
12 re-painted tie fighters
4 X-wings
3 Y-wings
1 A-wing
1 snap fit Falcon
Still to paint:
4 tie interceptors
15 Tie fighters
4 tie bombers
5 x-wings
4 Y-wings
3 A-wings

PapaSync21 Jan 2014 7:35 a.m. PST

I was looking at getting me a Hawk next and another A-wing. I was looking at running 2-Y's or B's with 2-A's. Use the A's to nip at their heels and set them up for the Y/B's to go in for the kill.

Any other combos I should consider using with what I have listed.

Also is there some place one can find a points chart or spreadsheet out there. I have 9 ships on each side. I was wonder what the point values would be for an all out battle.

Nice mix. Definitely bag another A-wing and 2 or 3 more TIE Ints, and consider the new "Imperial Aces" TIE Int release. I also have to put in a good word for the Slave 1. I thought I'd hate the thing, but it's a fun ship with some very different tactical abilities that make for interesting scenarios.

I'm not personally aware of any comparison lists, but as a general rule of thumb, you need twice as many TIEs (of any type) for every Rebel fighter, or at least 1.5 times as many (say 3 Imps for 2 Rebs). Double that if you field maxed out upgrades on the Rebs. And if the Falcon is in the fight… Yowza. You need reinforcements!

Of course, the scenarios that favor Imp victories can help (Thieves in the Night).

This squad builder might be getting a little out-of-date, but it's useful for point costs:

This site works for me. It is simple to use and the lay out is perfect.

I am quite interested to know how many points in a game you use? At present our group plays 100 pts per man. No more than 4 players to a 36" square mat.

Baron – How many ships does that come out to per man?

You can get a Tie swarm (7) at 100pts. My BBYY is 100 pts with up grades. There's a list I'm looking to try Han, Wedge and rookie with swarm tactics for Han. 100 pts but they all fire first at initiative 9.
Other lists 2 interceptors and 3 ties, 4 ties and 2 bombers.

There are may combos but this is what we've seen a lot of.
Check out Fritz x wing on You Tube, this is our club.

Actually, you can get 8 TIEs for 100 points or less. I'm rather fond of 5 Academy PIlots and 3 Obsidians weighing in at 99 points. Although 6-7 with Howlrunner is much heavier hitting power.

I also like doing 150-200 point games on a 4' wide x 3'-20cm deep board — set up zone is 2 range bands deep.

Well I know there are guys out there with larger but here's a look a mine…

A-Wing x4
B-Wing x4
X-Wing x6
Y-Wing x4
Millennium Falcon x2
Hawk x2

TIE Fighter x8
TIE Advanced x4
TIE Interceptor x4
TIE Bomber x4
Slave 1 x2
Lambda Shuttle x2

Have pre-orders on two Imperial Aces packs, two Rebel Transport packs, and one Tantive IV.

PapaSync22 Jan 2014 1:12 p.m. PST

So from what I'm seeing. My list above show 9 ships on each side. I went up against each other my Rebel list would decimate my Imperial list? I ask because I don't get to play much. I gotta set some time aside to play at Cool Stuff more often.

Yes, using all the ships you have, the Empire would be greatly outgunned.

Overall, the point system in the game is pretty well balanced. The larger the battle, the less important it is to have exactly equal forces.

As a quick sketch, I'd say add another 4-5 picks of Imperial ships to balance it out better. Count each Firespray or 3 TIE fighters as 2 picks, and each Bomber or Interceptor as 1. (the 1 Advanced you have is plenty). That should put you in the right ballpark for fielding everything at once.

I am quite interested to know how many points in a game you use? At present our group plays 100 pts per man. No more than 4 players to a 36" square mat.

Our last two games, both home-made scenarios, worked out as about 260pts each and 210 points each, give or take a few from either side. I've also played the Thieves In the Night scenario at 160 pts.

Typically, rather than set a specific point range, I develop the scenario I want, plan a rough idea of what the key ships, upgrades, etc. are for each side and then start adding ships and upgrades as needed to reach a rough balance. Of course, they're not tournament games, nor has our group taken the approach of each player building a favored fleet (like one might build a favored deck in a Magic type game).

One of our players, though, has developed a campaign system he runs with another group. It takes into account wins and losses, awards "construction points" according to these, and even has some chances for pilot improvement over the course of the campaign (so that a Rookie pilot doesn't remain a rookie).
