For Battlegroup Kursk fans – how to create an armored ammo carrier in cost-effective way ;)

Nice looking model, but having just done the research on this item as have just converted the former Skytrex one in 20mm ever photo & reference I found shows the hull M.G removed & a steel plate bolted over the port. Happy to be proved wrong.
Ian ( Shell hole & 20mmZone )
or is it??????

From the original photos it seems that MG was removed but its mounting point remained. In Panzer 38 hull-mg mounting-point was a little bit outside (not just a hole as it is other tanks).

Or you could just buy the one we make, and save yourself the effort of conversion:-)

Actually, I bought couple of your models – your excellent field kitchen is on my painting table right now. However, I wasn't able to "google" your ammo carrier :(

What a brilliant idea, and beautifully painted! I'm definitely going to make one for my Operation Blau BGK battlegroup!

Archeopteryx28 Jan 2014 3:55 a.m. PST

I knocked one up myself last night – took about an hour, also found some other images on the interweb, looks like the one on the train might have had some sort of box structure. Petty sure most were field conversions from damaged vehicles.

I made a few small changes. I used a thin washer to represent the turret ring (as you need to drill a big hole and my powerdrill made a messy edge). If you made the box structure out of card, then no need to drill at all. I also used s Peter Pig gunner (all I had to hand) and some additional stowage.

I'll paint in panzer grey and snow, like the pics, to go with my 1942 battlegroup.

Very Cool!

Looks great! I bet it will look excellent when painted :)

Its the "Miroslaw 38t"… You should market the design ;) Thanks for the inspiration!

How did you guys attach the the driver to the tank after you drilled the hole?

Miroslaw30 Jan 2014 8:37 a.m. PST

The hull is empty inside, so you have plenty of space. The tank is rather small so he will really stand on the floor.

I always put some ballast inside plastics, to give them some heft – old white metal scrap or nuts and bolts – A big blob squadron green putty as well. The gunner sits on that.

I do exactly the same

Archeopteryx01 Feb 2014 11:02 a.m. PST

I'm back from Copenhagen now – I'll paint mine up tomorrow!

I got two to build. Any of you guys got any spare loaders or ammo crates?
