I played my first solo game of Black Powder with my 54mm AWI collection. Good game. Good rules. Am planning on doing this again really soon….keep checking back….

Here's a link to my blog and the game AAR+small gallery.

Do your normal and large size units have the same number of figs?

Yes. I just noted the difference on my roster since it was a solo game to work the mechanics. I can't see re inventing the wheel just for BP. I also don't have but 1 Brit Grenadier, 1 Highlander, 1 Hessian Grenadier unit in my collection currently. It's an easy fix since units shoot, fight, morale by the unit instead of by the figure. I'm thinking that the unit sizes are a group's or individual's decision and just aren't that critical at 54mm. Just my opinion…probably not worth much more than a warm bucket of….spit. :) I do prefer ATKM for 54s however; I guess because I'm more familiar with the rules.

Merely curious … I agree that you could probably get by with just noting the normal and large units as an administrative function rather than worry about extra figs or stands. I've only played one BP game and found the rules rather plain; I'd like to try another game. I also like ATKM's rules better than BP.

Awesome, Steve! Please post this to the ATKM Facebook page, too! -- Ken

But Ken….it wasn't an ATKM game…. :) i'll post up the link and my last lengthy comment here…

79th…I sorta' like the game because it's pretty vanilla and could be played with a couple of bottles of tequila, some ceegars and lots of good conversation as well. It definitely is not as subtle as ATKM for the American Revolutionary period in my opinion. I don't think it was "built" to be. LOL

Thank you very much for sharing, Steve. I too game in 54mm (Medievals and Sikh Wars) and always find your posts highly inspiring. Your collection looks absolutely beautiful!

That's why you need to add the appropriate Useful Rules (see p88).
