I am working on a HotT army based on the movie Things to Come and am wanting a car or small truck with a loud speaker system, but so far have not been able to find anything. If I can find a loudspeaker system I can probably do some conversion work to a car or small truck, as I can find them, but so far haven't found any kind of speaker system. Does anyone know of a source? Thanks, Terry |

go to an arts and crafts store and look for little bells as decorations. i mean really little ones. if you find any, and you prolly will, just glue two or three of them to the roof of any car model. if you cant find any there, take a stroll through your local hardware store -- there may be some little pieces that you can use for the same thing. |

A couple small bells is probably your best bet. Well, unless you're going for a functional sound system. That might take some creative hiding to accomplish. |

Thank you gentlemen! I believe small bells will do the trick, and I had not thought of that. Thanks again, Terry |

Like this?
it's a Lledo Packard Announcer car, At 1/54 scale perfect for 28mm, lots bigger than 15mm, but you get the idea. I'm pretty sure you'll need to make your own version. These Lledo cars come in several vaieties, the Standard Oil being most common, and cheapest, ebay etc. but you might get lucky and find somebody who threw the trumpets in the spares box when he converted his into a straight panel truck
Googling announcer or loudspeaker cars will provide some interesting images, but few different scale models. Valerik BGR |

I know they were used but I see no models. The bell idea should work just finding them small enough. These might work. auction Hit a jewelry supply store maybe. Tried finding a cheap set but all too big. GL |

Actually, in thinking about the bell idea gave me an even easier and maybe cheaper source. The little metal end on a chain light pull. They are metal so super glue ought to hold them and they would be small enough to be the right size. I'll check the local hardware store once the current cold snap breaks. Thanks to all again! If you look at some modern speakers they don't have to be horn shaped, they can be flat panel (NXT) or do a search for LRAD which are direction speakers or sound laser. These are box shaped. Regards |

Thanks MM Guy. However basing the army on the movie, it is dated for 1940, so a very early WWII look for the British and the speakers they show on the truck are the traditional bell shaped. I feel like the square ones are a more modern look. The cold is supposed to ease a little here tomrrow so I plan to go out and do some searching for possibilities. I have an Irregular truck that will work fine with just a bit of shortening to the bed so I'm covered there. I'm getting some Peter Pig figures to staff the truck. Terry |

I looked at the hobby store and saw several great possibilities if I were doing 28MM, but nothing that would work for 15 MM. Not even the chain pulls I had hoped at the hardware store. However, all is not lost, I remembered the gnomes at Splintered Light, and ordered a pack of them, of which four will be donating their caps, slightly reshaped, for sound truck speakers. |
