This tableau encountered by most any army of the 18th Century--or any Century, before or after--would likely have caused a pause in the day's march of considerable time. I imagine a finely uniformed C-in-C miles away wondering what could possibly have happened to his Third Corps supposed to be covering his right flank…. Lovely, technically executed with aplomb, taste, and some appreciation of… nature. TVAG
