Hi folks

This week we tried using the excellent Too Fat Lardies Chain of Command rules in a modern Africa/AK47 type setting.

We avoided too many changes to the rules as it was our first attempt and it seemed to give an excellent game. I think more work's needed but it adapts well to the modern period.

More details here on my blog….. link

Looks good. Seems like the woods are everywhere. I don't think most of us think of the desert in that way.

Who said anything about a desert?

..erm..yes… I don't think we were being too specific about exactly where in Africa this took place. :)

Somewhere fairly warm and jungley but with North African style buildings (since that's what I had handy)

Alastair – interesting; thanks for posting. I've just got CoC but haven't plyed or even read it properly yet. Tell me, I see you infantry are two per base (which is what i have for AK47). Does that work ok with CoC? I'd got the impression the rules were aimed at single figures.

Were you using 15mm?

Check out the above exellent blog. The author has adapted CoC to this period.

Doug… yes, the figures are 15mm and are based for AK47 which is a little fiddly and involves using some kind of marker for casualties but was otherwise fine. I did use single based figures for the Senior and Junior commanders though. I'm now torn between rebasing them all singly or keeping them like this for games like AK47!

I suspect I'm going to have the same dilemma with my Spanish Civil War armies which I'd also like to try with CoC. Increasingly I find 15mm is an ideal scale for this type of large skirmish game and have gone the same way with Muskets and Tomahawks, Force on Force etc.
