Hello all, looking for figure suggestions for french, portuguese and spanish and british cavalry in the Penninsular around c1809. particularly Chassuers a cheval and dragoon for the other three nations.

Preferably something that looks ok alongside Perry and Victrix plastics. I am aware of the rather nice looking Front Rank range but I get the impression theyre a bit big?

And if anyone has any ideas for simple conversions from the few available plastic cavalry sets Im all ears!

thanks in advance!

Yeah I had a look at them, alas no spanish or portuguese!

Have you tried Elite?

Elite range is pretty good. They have British Dragoons in bicornes and LD in Tarletons. Portuguese and Spanish cavalry as well.

Brigade Games makes excellent British light and heavy dragoons. Perry's plastic British hussars should fill that gap.

But I'm less impressed by what's available for the French, Portuguese and Spanish.

I can't help with a specific suggestion but someone on this list must have what you are looking for……

I made my Spanish cavalry fro the OG French dragoons and French elite infantry in bicornes. Cutting the head off the infantry and placing it on the dragoon. From the left over pieces I made some French dismounted dragoons

Eagle Miniatures do a nice range of Spanish Hussars and Chasseurs which sit nicely alongside Perry figures:

Front Rank are 'chunky' – but not that big. They are much the same size as Perry.
(Redoubt, on the other hand, are huge).
FR do Light Dragoons in Tarleton, and also Spanish Cavalry in Bicorne aswell as irregular Spanish lancers.

Thanks for the link, plutarch, I didn't even know about Eagle before this!

Just for reference, Front Rank British Light Dragoons in Tarleton helmets:

I believe the Brigade British cavalry are in fact the former Victrix metals which Brigade is now producing. So they will fit in very well with the Victrix and Perry plastics.
