While awaiting playing out historic Utah Beach and Battle of the Bulge scenarios in the coming weeks, a couple of us played a FOW Encounter Mission last weekend. Check out the AAR and lots of pics here:

That looks like a really good game. The terrain especially looks good and there seemed to be a good balance of forces.

Nice looking game, but a couple of comments:
Wrecked vehicles do not block access unless in a defile although a skill test may be required to avoid bogging.
Also the Jeep and Armoured car if part of the Tank Destroyer security section, are removed from play when the TD's are revealed.
The German artillery could have tried to lay smoke down to enable the river assault to go in with less chance of taking hits.
Otherwise sounds like you had a fun game with balanced forces!

Points taken.

We left the burning jeep and armored car on for flavor -- we played with no blocked LOS.

And on the destroyed tanks, we knew about the big check ability but opted for other routes.

As for the German artillery -- that player just think to use them effectively.

The table looks great! Sounds like the game was fun, too.

I keep meaning to get into a serious bocage-building jag, but I can't get away from the flexibility in using a big bag of lichen like I've been using since I was a kid playing with HO Airfix soldiers.
