Well they are the banners of Scottish nobles from the highlands. Don't expect the Duke of Argyle to be painting his face blue and warbling about freedom…

LOL Green Tiger! The last time I was in Scotland, the Scots were less than thrilled with the Mel/Hollywood portrayal. Having seen the Mel/Hollywood portrayal of the Southern Campaign in the Patriot, I really understand.

I think there are plenty of Scots who cash in on the Mel Gibson Portrayal of William Wallace. I've seen an imitator standing in front of kilt shop! Still, the Scots had stopped painting themselves blue ( which was actually blue-green tattooing) half a millenium before William Wallace. Actually outlawed by the Church.

I rather like The Patriot except for that uneccesarily horrific scene of toy soldiers being melted down for musket balls!

The imitator at the kilt shop (I assume in Edinburgh) is Adam….tells me that if he wore suitable kit he would have to explain who he was!
Sadly, Scots are more ignorant of their history than any other nation in Europe, if not the world.
I liked Braveheart a lot…especially the bit where Darth tells Luke that he is his father and invites him to join the dark side.

I don't know, there is plenty of ignorance going around. For example many Norwegians seem to believe that Vikings went around wearing horned helmets, while many Englishmen are still claiming that the battle of Hastings was won by Vikings rather than French.

And many French people believe that king Arthur was English! :(

Possibly…but it's hard to beat blue-painted Templars wining Bannockburn by hiding in pits in swamps and throwing caltrops at the English.
Even so, my favourite is still 'Robert the Bruce was an Anglo-Norman'.
