Does anyone know which uniform is in the 2 OG packs of Dutch Belgian cavalry? 1st/3rd Carabiniers or 2nd and 4th or 5th Light Dragoons? Photos appreciated too! Thanks!

Decent photos of all the 15mm OG range would certainly boost their sales.

Here are almost all uniforms of the Hundred Days: link

Choose "unités/nation" then on the left "Hollande" and then "Carabiniers" and "Dragon Legeres".

I agree, I wish they had pictures. It would improve sales; there have been a couple of times I've held off from buying a particular bag because I wasn't sure what they meant in the description.

My guess would be that the set is all-inclusive. However, just the variants of Lt. Drag. uniforms would be challenging. Agreed, they need photos. Is there a "contact us" link where you can send them email?

RuLane,

I've got the "DBC 2" pack of Dutch-Belgian Cavalry: Light Dragoons from OG15s. I haven't painted them but their here. I can break em open to take a couple photos of the bear figures for you if it'd be helpful. I don't know their uniforms well enough to evaluate myself.

Widowson,

Yeah… I offered at one point to send them some photos of their figures painted as I've got most of their Napoleonic product line (either painted or unpainted) so I figured, hey… I can send you photos of what I have painted and as I paint more I can send ya more? They said they'd be quite grateful but when I asked what form the gratefulness might take, i.e. would they be willing to discuss compensation of any kind – I left the door open and would have been plenty happy with a trade, send me some lead I don't have, which I'll paint and send you yet more photos, or a nominal discount on small purchases, heck anything at all… they stopped replying.

Too bad, I'd still be happy to do it and wouldn't want much but didn't want it to be entirely one-sided.

Cheers,

The Bandit

That's a bit mean of them. Though I've often wondered if it's because some packs are so awful folks would simply be put off them?

marshallken,

That's a bit mean of them.

Well, honestly I don't know what to say about it. My interactions with them seem to run hot and cold when I e-mail or call them with a question. Phone calls are normally very pleasant e-mail is hit or miss.

Though I've often wondered if it's because some packs are so awful folks would simply be put off them?

Honestly I don't believe so. As I said, I own most of their Napoleonic product line and while there are definitely some that are bad casting quality those aren't predominate, nor are they consistently bad. All are perfectly serviceable and if you like lots of moderate variation of guys in the same pose, i.e. march attack for instance, then they are a good pick. They are certainly the least expensive figures on the market and readily available second hand. That said, comparing them to Blue Moon… I'd lean towards Blue Moon as they are putting together slightly higher quality, a comparative price and a broader range.

Cheers,

The Bandit

I concur wholeheartedly about the lack of pictures hurting Old Glory. I used to be a huge collector of their figures but stopped when I started to be able to see what I was buying from other manufacturers. Some of the figures are great but some not so much. I'm more or less done with them until they decide to move into the 21st century and use a digital camera.

Very helpful all. I'm an avid fan of OG at times – some of their sculpts are superb (artillery esp.); occasionally let down by the casting – I have a regiment or two of dragoons that barely have shabraques; but when painted up well they are very 'characterful'. AB are superb castings and I'm impressed by the new BM range so far – looking forward to its expansion…Mrs Miniatureships, update?

Wholeheartedly agree that OG badly need to invest in a camera. However, this is the sort of hobby where amateurism is encouraged and so I'd like to think photos of miniatures were contributed freely – I'm sure they'd show their thanks in due course in their own way. The industry has low margins and is driven by 'enthusiasts' rather than 'businesses' (although some clearly are in the process of changing that); the inevitable result will generally be price rises and a concentration on 'core' periods/scales of the hobby rather than the multitude of niches currently served.

Interestingly, a colleague at work had himself '3D printed' the other day (I'd guess ~1/20 scale (was ~12" tall)) incredible likeness. Cost £200.00 GBP Cost and hobby will no doubt meet each other in then not too distant future…

Your colleague is 20ft tall?….blimey. Hope he is not a Millwall fan! 3D printing could yet prove amazing in larger scales though, very interesting point you have raised

From memory and a review from the old Spanner and Yank website, they represent the 2nd Carabiniers and the 5th Light Dragoons.

If you are looking for a alternative, I can recommend Campaign Game Miniatures. They also have the Carabiniers in bicorne and the Light Dragoons in 'karaco' jacket.
