Here are some WiP pics of my latest project, another rocket plane for Pulp action.
Made from a 1/48 Curtis R3C racer, one Disney Rocketeer rocket pack from the 8" bend-em toy and some spatted wheels from a 1/48 AMT Lockheed Vega [horrible kit]. This will be the mount of that famous/infamous Aero Viking/Mercenary/Vigilante of the Sky, Lonestar! Here are links to my prior pulp rocket plane. Wip link Finished TMP link Enjoy Amalric |

As a Professor of Preposterous Physics, and Adjunct Accredited Aerodynamatician I approve and applaud your designs. Then, switching hats, as it were, so to speak
Intrepid Aeronaut as I am I'd FLY the bloody things, with all my skill, talent, training, aplomb, experience and determination, oughta be a piece a cake
But LAND one? on an undercarriage so narrow? On grass? or even tarmac, absent any crosswind? No, Nope, sorry, beg pardon, it's simply not on Old Boy. All the testicular fortitude I could muster wouldn't allow me to even consider such folly, I'd rather hit the silk. Pity to reduce such a wizard kite to such solitary use. BGR |

Thanks for all the kind words. Here it is with a bit of greenstuff and the figure for Lonestar, the Cowboy of the Skys!
Lonestar is the famous Lobster Johnson fig with a hat from the Reaper Bones Shadow figure. Now for some paint. Bunkermeister, props are so 1920ish, this is the 30s! Think of all the advances science is making. Why its been said that soon you wont even need wings to fly, you'll just strap the rocket engine on your back and zoom! And in regard to the narrowness of the landing gear, narrow gear is all the rage! That fellow Wile E. Memmership put narrow gear on his new BF109er, and what about the width on the new Supermarine Spitnfire? Huh? And before you comment, check out the narrowness of the landing skid below. ;) With all these so called do gooders rocketing around, there needs to be a bad guy to fight [or Bad Girl ;)]
The Red Baroness and her infamous Flying Wing!
Its just the ole 1/48 testors Komet sans rudder to give it that wingish look. Amalric |

My Dear Amalric, Just because it IS so, doesn't make it SO good. Wider undercarriages are all the rage now, why there's even talk of tricycularity,a concept I thought already abandoned. For Heaven's Sake Man, even the FRENCH, nemeses of all that is aeronautique, favour wider wheels
And while tis difficult to tell from the photos, the shadows would seem to indicate your Baroness is firmly equipped with a tail, but may lack a rudder. Her Rocketrix contraption on the other hand entirely lacks an empenage
My learned Colleagues at the Institute of Applied Aeronautical Absurdity all concur that 'Thrust Vectoring' should resolve any control issues arising from this abreviational design. Once again I stand upon my reputation as a Professor of Preposterous Physics, and Adjunct Accredited Aerodynamatician as I approve and applaud your designs. Keep 'Em Flyin'!!! Valerik |

Have you seen some of the designs for Crimson Skies at Iron Wind Metals. Good inspiration for some pulp era exotic aircraft. Mugwump |

I finally got them base coated, now for markings and detailing. Olive on top and grey on bottom + colors of Texas for ole Lonestar!
Red for the Red Baroness!
