"The Swarm descends, are you ready? Tyranids will be releasing this weekend, and I'm sure you've heard this and that about the new codex as the internet is on fire right now with rumors both good and bad. Sure some people are dissing this new release already, but lets be honest everyone said the Tau and Eldar were bad on release too

Here are the models themselves: link They do have some cool looking new stuff. And the prices seem pretty reasonable with this release. The gaunts are only $2.20 USD each. The Exocrine seems well priced too. |

That first WD pic sure has a LOT of large suits on it
My guess is that the Hive Crone is the Tyranid "Flier?" About 7-10(?) years ago I obtained an old Armorcast Exocrine and painted it up lovely. Now that there are rules for it my son can put it on the table (the bugs are all him.) |

Eldar were bad on release Yes they were bad on release. Dire Avenger's had they price increase to $70 USD for ten, because GW knew they would be the most likely Troop choice. So gouge the customer by doubling the price of them. Plus this overprice model.
The Exocrine well priced? Yeah I would believe so for GW, nearly $80 USD for just one. I saw no problem with the old Genestealer Cult army. Far more interesting than Nids. But they like the Squats are long gone. Oh and look the Fan paid for Advertisement (I.E. White Dwarf) is only showing a battle of GW's overprice large models. GW way of telling their customers that they need to buy 3 or more of them so that GW can get more money from the fanboyz. |

You think the Wraithknight is overpriced? I think you are mistaking expensive for overpriced. I think it retails at about $115. USD For a model kit of that size with that detail $115 USD is a good price. I'm a GW fan and I don't pay for White Dwarf. "Yeah I would believe so for GW, nearly $80 USD USD for just one." It is $73 USD dollars. Why not just say nearly $100 USD for just one? |

It is $73 USD USD dollars. You are forgetting to add the Tax and I live a high sales tax state, so it is around $80. USD You think the Wraithknight is overpriced? I think you are mistaking expensive for overpriced.I think it retails at about $115. USD USD For a model kit of that size with that detail $115 USD USD is a good price Actually more like $125 USD and they want you to buy 3 or more of them. But while the cost is to high the point cost for it is also way to high. Around 300+ points when most battles are fought with just 1500 or 1850 points. Nope I would never include 16-20% of my force into just one model. Plus only has a 3+ save and is Toughness six. As I told someone over on another forum my Imperial Guard army would have it dead by turn two if not turn one. All of these large models are only there to make GW money. Plus each year the cost for them will only go up. or GW will just write them out of the rules. |

I'm going to have to play 'devil's advocate' and agree with Pictors on this one. While a Riptide costing 85 bucks and a Wraithknight costing 115 bucks seem like a lot of dough, similarly sized Bandai Gundam kits (1/100 and 1/60 scales) often cost a lot more. And there are no company that made rules for gaming with Gundams. Sorry Mithmee, but I think your well known biases against GW blinded you to reason. |

Sorry Mithmee, but I think your well known biases against GW blinded you to reason. Yup, and I have hated them ever since they nerf the Eldar Guardians. So that is a very long time. But no matter what you say a Wraithknight at 300 points is one of the worst things an Eldar player could put into their army. Rarely will ever get its point cost back. Easy to kill or take out the of fight. Oh and if you want to spend that much on one single model or do what GW wants buy 3-4 of them. More power to you. I will keep my money in my wallet and use my 40K figures for something different then 40K which has no balance at all between the armies. |

I just painted up one of those old Armourcast Exocrines last year. I was planning on using it in a game of Swatters though. |
