Great stuff! thanks Armand.
I've said it before, but I would give my right nut for 1/72 scale barrage/observation ballons.

Hi John

1/72 scale observation balloons are around if you look for them and are very lucky! Roseplane used to produce 1/72 vacform versions of both the Drachen and the Caquot balloons, but they went out of production in the 1980s I think. I've managed to get one of each, although they weren't exactly the cheapest thing I've ever bought! We often use the Drachen in our WW1 games, indeed it may feature in the next game we do at shows.

The Drachen was a swine to build, just like trying to glue two halves of a Coke bottle back together. Got her done in the end though!

By the way, when we get our rules for WW1 air warfare out (provisionally called Kaisers Aces) they will cover balloon busting, and of course zeppelins (we've got a 1/72 scale one of those too, but that was scratch built and is the size of a small missile!).

Cheers

Here's a photo of the balloon in action at one of our games – unfortunately the carpet was purple so it doesn't go very well! Its from our blog at crushthekaiser.blogspot.com

Looks like the deep shadows of a foggy evening to me….

Hi – actually it's the carpet in a part of the Milton Keynes shopping centre! The show was "Campaign", which is held each year in the middle of a massive shopping centre.
