Sir, In my unofficial capacity as TMP Stiflehound, I have been monitoring the Stifle Table and I notice a blanket stifling attack occurred on 8/9 January, where all but one of the top ten ‘most heinous' TMPers received a stifle. Strangely, some of those have not even been posting recently. We hear lots of reasons why people stifle and I would like it to be clearly understood that some stifle others simply because they can. TMPers let the angst be over
one may not have done anything wrong to receive a stifle or two. Your most affectionate servant
etc, etc. (PS Please don't let Kaoschallemged2 post his usual retort ) |

You cannot assume that new stifles are based on current posts. |
Space Monkey | 09 Jan 2014 10:21 a.m. PST |
You really can't assume much of anything at all. They're meaningless except to the person who stifled
so just ignore them. |

You are both correct, of course. Yet, a blanket stifling attack occurred on 8/9 January, where all but one of the top ten ‘most heinous' TMPers received a stifle. Strangely, some of those have not even been posting recently. I say that is compelling evidence that no 'offence' took place. And, I think it was one person 'wot done it, guv'. |

And yet, I felt no pain, nor did my world collapse. Oh, wait
Am I still in the Top Ten? |

Am I still in the Top Ten? Seriously, were you ever? |
John the OFM | 09 Jan 2014 10:51 a.m. PST |
Sometimes when I see someone quote or answer me, I smile and say "Well, at least HE doesn't have me stifled!" Happened just this morning, as a matter of fact. |
Silent Pool | 09 Jan 2014 10:52 a.m. PST |
Aaargh, the mystery has gone now. Dash it? |
John the OFM | 09 Jan 2014 10:53 a.m. PST |
Seriously, were you ever? Oh, yep. I was once #3. But then those who put records and personal goals ahead of harmony in the universe rudely pushed me aside. I might be in the top 20, or I may have even fallen from that. Maybe I am just not trying hard enough. |
John the Greater | 09 Jan 2014 11:03 a.m. PST |
I'm still stuck at a mere 12 stifles. Sigh
just not heinous enough. OFM, you will always be a high heinous one in my book no matter what your stifle count. |

No. Yes. No. Oh, this one Threads like this and some of the comments here gives me another chance to post this again. As I have said before in similar threads. Its pretty funny that some here equate using the Stifle button with being "thin skinned"," feelings easily hurt",less then a male,Ect. Or imply it as a sign of weakness or childishness. Or even that its anonymously labeling someone as an undesirable. But some here use the button so as to no longer have to see some of the actions, comments and rudeness that some of our fellow posters post here. And we have seen that some can become quite nasty. Also some like to wear it as a sign of pride that they have never used it nor will do it.Well kudos and good for them. Doesn't has a effect on me either way. Just words on a screen. Some say its "censorship" or somehow restricting or denying them their "Freedom of Speech". But as the poster's comments and posts can still be seen shows that that is not the case. And as others have said they are not really affected by them. Some here just use their right to not to have to read others comments if they want. And I,like others, could not care any less if I receive one. And if I give one. Well its none of their business. I need to look. I just assumed John was the Ozymandius of such things, the unchallenged leader upon whose works all others gazed in wonder and despair. |

Damm! And to think that I was starting to have my own clique of haters! After I had a bump from 51 to 71 stifles in one month, I let my hopes go up, and now I learn that all was the action of some professional hater. They respect nothing, I tell you! |
