Army of Philippine to acquire M113 armoured personnel carrier fitted with 76mm Scorpion turret. "The Philippine Army will acquire 14 M113 armored personnel carriers in 2015 to boost its fire support capabilities. Army spokesperson Capt. Anthony Bacus said the M113 vehicles will be fitted with 76-mm turrets among others from decommissioned British-made Scorpion combat vehicle reconnaissance (tracked) units. The vehicle will be equipped with modern fire control and thermal imaging equipment. Once it is completed, the 76mm cannon armed M113s will be quite lethal

Australia used to have this variant in service for years as the M113A1 (FS) Scorpion Turret Medium Reconnaissance Vehicle. These have now been retired from service; the Australian army site does not mention this variant anymore. There was also an older version which used the Saladin turret. |

Stop it Tim. Those were way too much fun. A friend who used a Cougar in Somalia. A 6x6 Mowag with the scorpion turret. He has before and after pictures, of the inside of a T55 turret and I have a very healthy respect for that little 76mm HESH round. |

Seems like a lot of work to me. I think I would have gone with Scorpions escorting the M-113s, instead. |
