Hello all, not at all sure what board to post this on so I'm posting it to many. Random question; What is the correct name for the sticks used to push units around the table in a war room and how would I go about making some? We want some so that we can feel important pushing some axis versus allies units around on a map. But I can't for the life of me think of the name of it and nor can I find a picture of one by typing "war room sticks" into a google image search. |

They are the type of things used by casino croupiers on roulette tables, known as a croupier's rake. Henry |

"Rakes" or "Croupiers' Rakes". WD Display Team North did a Battle of Britain participation game some years ago – ours were just a bit of wooden dowel with a piece of wood stuck on the end. For photos try: link |

1/2" or 3/4" PVC pipe or wood dowel 5-6' length with rectangle of MDF, painted color of choice. Think pool bridge stick
EDIT: Or listen to the guys above me

Dice rakes from a craps table work pretty well. Chip rakes from roulette tables are wider but cost more. We thought they'd be useful and got a couple dice rakes. Used them once and now they sit in the corner. Not as useful as you'd think for minis on any kind of terrain that isn't flat. |

What would be really cool would be serious-looking young women in bob haircuts and WAC skirts to use the rakes to push the mini's around
Like in the movie "Battle of Britain". |

Well yeah, I think that's implied. How else would anyone use them? |

Like in the movie "Battle of Britain". They would have to be WAAFs then (Women's Auxiliary Air Force). |

Great movie, but it took my wife to notice that those haircuts were 1960's, not 1940! |
