I played another couple of games of Infinity yesterday.
In the first one we did a prisoner escort scenario. This one saw my Pan Oceana force against a Haqislam force.
The back story was that a Yu Jing ambassador had been caught in some devious dealings with Haqislam forces while negotiating with Pan Oceana and had information that could endanger an anti-hegemony pact Yu Jing and Haqislam were working on.
Pan Oceana started with 5 fusiliers escorting the prisoner to an awaiting transport vehicle outside of their compound when the Haqislamic forces attack. They need to get him across about a 4x4 foot table from one corner to the other.
The Haqislamic forces consist of 1 Hassissn Fiday with an AP close combat weapon and a rifle and one Tuareg sniper.
They started in the middle of the table in one of the two rooms, they elected to start in the room further away. The sniper was starting in TO camo and was looking down the hall way at the Pan Oceana troops.
In addition to these forces the Pan Oceana troops had two Akalis, one with HMG, a croc man and an ORC trooper at the transport who were awaiting them and would enter the table from the exit point at the first sound of gun fire.
The Haqislam foces had a Janissary, four Ghulam infantyr, including a doctor, and two Mutawii. They would enter behind the Pan Oceana force as soon as gun fire errupted.
The game started with the Pan Oceana forces moving onto the table and down the cooridor. The group moved together and then one member of the group decided to advance to ward the door of the first room. The sniper shot him, revealing herself.
She then fired on the group in her turn, dropping another fusilier but causing herself to be brushed back from the doorway from the return fire.
The Fusiliers then took up positions covering the doorway they had just moved through and the lt. moved the prisoner into one of the rooms and out of the line of fire.
The Pan Oceana reinforcments came rushing into the building at the sound of gunfire.
The Hassassin now moved to find his quarry as the Tuareg moved back into position and started shooting at the Fusiliers lining the cooridors.
The rest of the Haqislam forces advanced, the Muttawii blasting the Fusiliers from cover with their chain guns while being cut down in the process.
A burst of rifle fire cut down the Tuareg from behind as the Akali moved into sight and then past her.
The Jannissary advanced down the cooridor past the downed fusiliers and shot down their lt.
The hassassin advanced on the now isolated ambassador with his sword drawn.
The ambassador took a defensive stance but was not quick enough for the Hassassin who struck home with blow after blow.
But from behind them a burst of machine gun fire cut down the Jannissary and then started sweeping the hall way.
The doctor moved up to help one of the Muttawii who had been down but then was cut down herself.
Only momentarily distracted the Hassassin continued his beating of the ambassador who was much tougher than he looked. Eventually though the cuts told and the ambassador went down to one knee, bleeding profusely.
The Hassassin grabbed his hair and forced his neck down while plunging his knife into the base of the skull. The action, perfected in countless practice sessions as well as plenty of real life encounters, eliminated the target's cube and rendered him useless to his Pan Oceanic captors.
The Haqqislam forces then disengaged and retreated from the base.
The flare up in hostilities continued as the Haqqislam forces attacked a Pan Oceana forward airbase.
The Pan oceana defenders consisted again of 5 fusiliers, one with an HMG.
In the airbase was their doctor and a Cutter as well as two Akalis ready for airborne deployment once the shooting started.
The haqqislam forces consisted of two janissaries, two Muttawii, a Tuareg, a Hassassin Fiday, 6 Ghulam infantry and a ghulam doctor.
The advance against the fusiliers was slow but consistent. The haqqislamic forces found their way into a trench which was on their right side of the table and cleared it of the fusliers using it for cover.
The tuareg and the hassassin advanced on the left while the rest of the force, led by the Jannissries moved up on the right.
After taking heavy losses the remaining two fusliers hunkered down waiting for their reinforcements to show up.
The TAG covered more than half the table on the next turn moving through the jungle terrain in TO camouflage.
The Tuareg moved up to force him to reveal himself or to be shot by her while the Jannissaries moved up to catch him on the other flank and get the TAG in a cross fire.
Sadly the Tuareg had not seen that there was a fusilier in the jungle in front of the TAG.
And that is when the Akalis dropped in changing the face of the battle completely.
They engaged and took out the Hassassin, the Tuareg and one of the Ghulam infantry while only losing one of their own, and not the one with th HMG.
The Tuarge was shot down by the fusilier she had not seen.
The Cutter then advanced on the two Jannissaries who were hunkering down in the trench they had taken.
The TAGs HMG was more than a match for the two and while he received heavy damage in return soon the elite haqislamic troops were lying in pools of their own making at the bottom of the trench.
At this point the two Muttawii were down as well leaving only four Ghulam infantry and the doctor against a fusilier, an Akali with an HMG, a cutter with one damage point left and a fusilier doctor.
They should have called it a day* but they struggled on. The doctor advanced into the trench patching up a Muttawii on her way toward the two down Janissaries.
The cutter moved out and started to fire on the doctor drawing extreme range fire from the rest of the Ghulams. Despite his heavy armor the fire from the infantry brought the TAG down.
This changed things.
The fusilier lt. was the only one in range and he advanced to try to drop the doctor before she revived the Jannissaries. He was taken out by the Mutawii returning the favor of his life being saved.
The Akali then took the Mutawwi out but the doctor had managed to revive the Janissaries and the Akali was taken out by the Ghulams now advancing with renewed confidence from the hill.
That left only the fusilier doctor who didn't feel that she could revive her forces and delay the haqilamic forces.
The muslim troopers swept past her as she was tending to the wounded, soon the sound of explosions indicated that they had accomplished their mission, and their heavily wounded force limped home.
*They had lost more than 60% of their forces and should have disengaged at that point. We decided to fight on and I'm glad we did.
