Hello Guys, In between jobs I am going back to my love affair with Austrian Infantry and the 1809 Danube Campaign. It does help that I am writing a thesis on Hiller and Lannes during the actions before Aspern-Essling, thus providing me with endless inspiration.
These fellows are painted as IR#59, or can be just as easily used as IR#42. link Have a look and please feel free to leave any comments, both constructive or otherwise. Or contact me with some work you might need done. Happy Gaming, Kurt. |

Those look great. I'm working on Austrians as well so appreciate what you're going through painting all that white. |

Great work. I too know the challenges of working through the Kaiser Lichtes. |

Kurt, Do you plan to keep any whitecoats for yourself? I know what you mean about repainting the same two poses over and over. Interesting subject for a thesis, btw. Are you comparing the two commanders? Michael |

You're right about IR59 at Aspern. Works out at only 18 figures for the whole regiment at 1:50. link But even more understrength, I've rounded down IR14 to only 12 figures. As you say, they'd seen action. Lots of variety in Hiller's column. As you know, I'm doing the other side of the battle. |

Hey Michael, I am actually painting brigades of different corp across the napoleonic wars for sale using AB miniatures. I might plan to keep some of them. At this moment I am working through St Hilaire's Elite Division an Hillers advance guard. Throwing together a starter set of sorts! I am looking at Hiller and his command and investigating whether he should have adhered to Charles's reforms and could have done better against Lannes and Massena. I am arguing that Hiller was the most inept commander of the campaign and that it was Lannes and not Massena and Davout who some have argues were the stand out commander. See how it goes, I am in the very early stages. Any and all commets and criticsms welcome on that historical idea. I follow your blog religiously for obvious reasons and whilst Aspern and Wagram are fantastic theaters to study, I am unashamedly obsessed with Charles's opening gambit and the counter punches from Davout and Napoleon. Thanks for all the nice comments guys, it was only after posting I realized I missed a spot of black. Regards, Kurt. |
