Just posted up a review of my projects in 2013 and a summary of goals for 2014. Afterall if you are not moving forward, you are moving backward. link So what are your goals? David wardepot.blogspot.com |

I cleared out the man cave over the Christmas holidays, which is always fun, found lots of things I'd forgotten about. One thing it did highlight to me is how eclectic and tired my scenery collection is looking. So I'm now planning to create a whole raft of matching scenery some new stuff and some old scenery revamped to match my new stuff. I've purchased a new gaming mat with my Christmas loot and picked up some pink foam yesterday so it's all systems go. |

Just a few days ago pondered what to produce hobby-wise this year. Especially as last year was nearly barren. Would be awesome to get one box of 1/72 plastics painted each month. Probably ain't gonna happen though. Although I do have fallschirmjägers primed and ready to go
Also some terrain has been in backburner for quite a while. These would be relatively easy to do as have quite a lot of stuff already primed and waiting to be assembled and painted. And returning to do some more 1808 Finns would be great. Have some 8 squadrons of cavalry waiting to be converted (shape of saddlecloth) and numerous artillery carts waiting to get primed. |

I'm trying to shift my hobby focus away from endless figure painting more towards the odd bit of figure painting when I feel like it, some terrain making and playing more regularly. The only complete units I definitely plan to paint during 2014 are two AB Napoleonic cavalry regiments of 12 figures each. Most of the other figures I do will be to fill out existing units and adding vignettes etc. However, I have some AB WW2 samples that I want to try and I'd like to have a go at some Polly Oliver AWI when they come back on the market. |

Clear as much of the lead pile as possible. I have a lot of 6mm ECW/Renaissance and Napoleonic's to do and a few 25mm Greeks. |

I would love to finish out what I have for Rennaisance in the cabinet drawer, and do some games with both FoGR and Pike and Shotte. I want to do both Italian Wars and French WoR. |
GildasFacit | 05 Jan 2014 6:30 a.m. PST |
Try to be more realistic about what I'm likely to get finished and stop buying more stuff that won't get done for years. It won't happen – but I can always hope. Main things are to try and get the August 1914 armies in 10mm done and played with and to finally complete my pre-dreadnought rules (I already have loads of ships to use and another 70 just bought) and get a deal of playtesting done. |

Goals? Sounds too much like work! But I do have some expectations
(1) Finish my 10mm ACW armies. link (2) Produce a couple of 15mm armies for Irregular Wars. link Of course, I have a lot more stuff on my 'to do' list, but current enthusiasms always push other things into the background. |

Let's see, actually get painting regularly again
Tough when you have young kids but I hope to get them involved with priming and block painting in colors. Sounds like a sweat shop but they actually want to do this :-) I have to prioritize projects as I am a bit scattered on what I want to do. Logic dictates that I do the following: 1. FoW Italians 2. FoW U.S. 3. 10mm Napoleonics 4. 15mm Napoleonics 5. 15mm Ancients/Medievals As I already have plenty of number 5, I need to decide what I would like to either play more of or finally get to play regularly. FoW, early war is getting a bit of a push locally. My unpainted Italians should be fine there. A few friends play DBN in 10mm but honestly are only playing a few times a year. Have started playtesting Might of Arms V2 and need to continue doing so but I have plenty painted. Met some new gamers to me that regularly play Napoleon at War 1 to 2X a month. Which means I probably should bump this up on the painting priority list. Good news is that they have plenty painted. So, I don't have painted FoW troops but could probably borrow from a couple of friends. So, it is harder for me to borrow the FoW stuff and that is why it is up higher on the list for me. Sad thing is that I have to buy more tanks :-) (evil laugh!!!) |
donlowry | 05 Jan 2014 10:31 a.m. PST |
My main goal is to still be alive at the end of the year and at least as healthy as I am now. Other than that, to have as much fun and as little bother as possible. As for gaming stuff: to do something (at last) with my 6mm WW2 stuff, maybe figure out something to do with my 25mm fantasy figures and 12/13mm (old Scruby) ACW and 15mm Napoleonics, and to maybe run a 1942 East Front 20mm online campaign. In my spare time, self-publish at least 1 ACW book (about ready to go, actually), maybe 1 or 2 more, and keep writing. Ain't retirement fun? |

My goals are primarily to finish off some of he diorama pieces I've been working on for about four years. When I mean "diorama pieces" I don't mean things you put on the shelf, but diorama's used in war games. For example. I base my terrain on plywood (luan) hexes 12" across paralells. This is done NOT for game use (you don't run the game by hexagons) it's a free move game but the plywood base means I can do all sorts of fancy stuff and construct it so that terrain doesn't get smashed, crushed or flattened or all the fine detail knowcked off. 1) I have a two-hext town which will has have scratch-built balsa, cardstock, plastic, and purpose built buildings to look as realistic as possible. This includes mylar windows on basswood frames with you able to see into the interiors or the shop windows. Also some of the buildings upper stories will have skylights that can see the interiors of bedrooms and one has a sort of "perescope" that you can see into one bedroom where there's a cople "En-flagrante delicto". 2. I also use the hexagons for woods. I create an "inner-box or hexagon box which is painted on the outside to look like the woods, with twigs, lichen, stones and stuff on the flange left by setting the "hex-box" in about an inch from the edge. This flange has small wood twigs holding up a matching flange to support the domed or sculpted "hat" to close the box, and it has lichen, trees, and other tings to attain versimilitude like a forest. I've made 10 new woods hexes and I want to decorate the outer flange with various scenes, like a hunting scene on one face, a couple in a gazeebo in a trist where in the next panel the lady's maid is running toward the gazebo to warn the couplt that right behind here are the dogs, beaters and ghillies of the ladies husband all armed, and behind her is the old, fat ugly husband riding forward to slake his anger. Another will have scenes from Fairy Tales, Little Red Riding Hood, Ba-Ba-Black Sheep, Jacke and the Bean-stalk, Goldilocks and the three bears etc. I have a diorama unit for a militia company for my Imagi-nation army. This one however does not have them in action, but at their Sunday Militia picnic, with some of them around groaning tables stuffing their faces, another stand has them singing around a small keyboard, Another has a squad in order with officer and hornist posing, having their portrait painted. Another has a screen of bushes behind with some of them are carousing with the local bar girls, others are on a stand taking part in a turkey shoot. Some are playing at Bowles
Lots of conversions still to do. Yes I intend to use these on the table top in battles. I've also made Turkish Regiments whith one-man bands (including accordian, glockenspiel, and Vuvuzela horns, and a Turkish Orchestra with Banjos and feathers like Mummers. |

Try to focus on doing one project at a time
.. I have just bought a Mid Republic Roman Army on the War&Empire Kickstarter, which should land on my table about May this year! I do get easily distracted with new and continuing project, 15mm fantasy being the prime one
a never ending love! lol But I MUST focus, I can paint between 300 to 400 figures while Im away from home working for 6 weeks, so technically I could do one project per trip, 6 trips per year
now that is a lot of figures!!! Oh and I do keep getting commissions from the guys at my club PAW which can lead me other things! |

Knock over my 28mm ACW Armies and get a start on my 'PERRY' War of the Roses in 28mm. |
TelesticWarrior | 06 Jan 2014 4:15 a.m. PST |
1.Finish my Ottoman wargaming army (I have already collected and based every unit in 1/72 plastic, but haven't painted a single one). 2.Finish my Napoleonic Spanish (once the Hat plastics are released and I have my paws on a few boxes). 3.Create a map for an Axis Vs Allies/Risk style Napoleonic board game that I have designed. 4.Make some fleet markers for that game. That's it. 2-4 are easily achievable, number 1 will require more discipline

My 2014 project plans are as follows. These are roughly in date order based on when the figures are available. 1. A set of 1/48 Pegasus farm animals (on the workbench now). 2. Ten GW plastic elves from the Hobbit film and a few toy spiders (not GW) for them to fight. This will actually be less GW LOTR & Hobbit figures than any of the past eight or so years because the new stuff is uninspiring and very expensive. 3. About sixty 28mm modern USMC, Seals, DEVGRU and Chinese from the Empress Kickstarter. 4. Even more figures for my huge 1476 Swiss and Burgundian War armies when the two new plastic sets come from the Perry brothers. 5. A huge quantity of Reaper Bones 28mm fantasy figures towards the end of the year (another Kickstarter). More may be added if something inspiring comes along. Mick |

1- preventing my wife buying any more confederates, vikings, 28mm WW2 Germans or 20mm WW2 Commonwealth for Burma. 2 – acquiring loads of federals, saxons, 20mm Japanese. |

I guess I have three main goals: 1) Finish a few extra bits and pieces for the Asiatic Horde. 2) Bring the Late Bronze Age collection to playable size. 3) Paint more medieval Germans. You always need more medieval Germans. |

1. Get on with my Peninsular Campaign after a work-enforced hiatus. 2. Reduce the lead/plastic mountain to nothing before Christmas 2014 by a mixture of painting and selling/donating. Regards |

Finish all those primed hoplites that stare at me every time I go by the workbench. I HATE how their little eyes seem to follow me. |
mdauben | 06 Jan 2014 3:59 p.m. PST |
I've been looking through my lead pile and realizing just how overwhelming its become. My first thoughts for this year would be: 1 – Paint up the FOW British Airborne company I bought threeyears ago. 2 – Paint up the rest of the ACTASF Star Trek miniatures I bought last year. 3 – Paint up the rest of the WFB Ogres I bought five years ago. 4 – Paint up the rest of the WH40K Imperial Guard I bought two years ago. I'm probably already overloaded for the year with just those five
and I have at least seven or eight other armies waiting their turn! |

Help as many people as possible achieve their hobby goals and finish a few of mine. Namely a 1 to 1 French Battalion in Column by Division Diorama using AB French Line Infantry. This will probably go by the way side as my further education takes over, but you never know. Good luck to all, Kurt. |

Hope to finish the last of my scratch-built terrain layout for the Second Afghan War Battle of Charasiab from 1879. Have built the lion's share of the terrain over the past couple of years, but still need to finish a couple of modest low hills, a somewhat extensive road network (using latex caulk), and most difficult of all: a pair of 6'x2' terrain boards featuring the Logar and Kabul rivers (using pour-on resin). If I'm lucky I'll finish in time to play the game on the 135th anniversary of the battle, on October 6th, 2014 -- and maybe even find time to bring it across the country to the annual TSATF "Colonial Barracks" convention in New Orleans a month later in November. |

Locate employment. Now, gaming projects
I need to paint up a whole bunch of [expletives deleted] Pathans. How many? Add another zero to however many you just thought of. probably better than 2000, all told, since I'm working on gaming the Pathan Revolt. And then there are the British Raj troops, since I like Biiiiiiiiiiiig units. "Company" of ~10, and all 8 companies to the battalion. Probably 15 battalions of British Raj all told. And a few other projects, like my Fallschirmjager company or a platoon of Italians here and there, some WW2 US Army in that 'duck hunter' camo pattern, etc

In no particular order - 1. Paint my Crustie fleet from GZG ( And add the new ships) 2. Base my Japanese and NSL Jager infantry forces for DS2. 3. Get a copy of the Colonial Battlefleet rules, else I'll not be able to play with my regular starship crowd anymore. 4. Make a decision on my Dystopian Wars faction of choice – Leaning toward Covenant of Antarctica mostly. |
