Hi Team Today I'm posting about a Confederate Regiment, the 33rd Virginia Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The regiment earned immortality at 1st Bull Run but I'm depicting them as they would have appeared at or after Gettysburg in 1863. As usual, they are based on 40mm square MDF with 'Golden Gel Medium' flocking paste (Coarse Pumice) which was coloured with 'Jo Sonjas' Burnt Sienna . The base was then dry brushed with Citadel 'Karak Stone' and finished with MiniNature grass tuffs and Army Painter Battlefield Grass. The miniatures are mostly PERRY MINIATURES Plastics 'Confederate Infantry' but there are also a few PERRY, OLD GLORY 2nd EDITION and SASH AND SABER metals in there. Flags are from FLAGS OF WAR. I have based these chaps for playing LONGSTREET but they could easily work for BLACK POWDER or other rules. Read all about them on my blog here: link Here are a couple of photos to wet your appetite [URL=http://s293.photobucket.com/user/trailape/media/Longstreet/photo2_zps84f3786a.jpg.html]

The fellow laying down looks rather like he's been run down by the regiment
! |
Cyclops | 04 Jan 2014 3:29 a.m. PST |
Just as well it wasn't a Kentucky regiment. |
HammerHead | 04 Jan 2014 5:11 a.m. PST |
Hmmmm must make a start on my Perry Confederaste box |
ACWBill | 04 Jan 2014 5:26 a.m. PST |
I think the dead guy is a Sash & Saber figure. The entire regiment is very nicely done. |
Chacrinha | 04 Jan 2014 5:44 a.m. PST |
Thirty-third eh? I surprised that one, let alone the other 32 consented to you using Perry Plastics on them. Those bayonets look uncomfortable. Any breakages during storage? |
mashrewba | 04 Jan 2014 5:47 a.m. PST |
Please don't change the title -it's hilarious. "The fellow laying down looks rather like he's been run down by the regiment
!" beep beep. Even more hilarious! |
yoakley | 04 Jan 2014 5:49 a.m. PST |
There stands the 33rd, hiding behind that bush. |
Chacrinha | 04 Jan 2014 5:58 a.m. PST |
I suppose, it's where the immortal cry, 'we ain't licked yet' originated from. |
huevans011 | 04 Jan 2014 6:18 a.m. PST |
OK. All you guys making the bad puns are ori-ficially dawg-housed. |

Please don't change the title -it's hilarious. I tried – the server won't let me. |

Brian, that was hilarious. |

Sooooo
..he tries to type "Virginia" and it autocorrects to something else. Hmmmm, I wonder what he has been looking up? Any-hoo, nice figures. I really like big regiments. |
Madmike62 | 04 Jan 2014 2:25 p.m. PST |
I would charged them 57th pennsy penile regiment in a full frontal assault. |
HammerHead | 04 Jan 2014 2:32 p.m. PST |
How far up the valley they did get?? |
Madmike62 | 04 Jan 2014 2:54 p.m. PST |
I broke into the rear support area but they still kept coming. |

OOoooh I love this title! :) I am sure they could happily face a strong enemy column? BTW, in my c.1700 pirate games, the Governor's niece (a non-player character that all players captains love) is called "Mademoiselle Clotirisse". I always say to the players that she was born in the French Caribbean, but
yes
perhaps she could be American, from this state I can read the name in the title above? BTW again, it's strange to read all this on TMP, but it's not so shocking in France where it is sometimes called "traditional French Gaulish humour", with no harm intended and the French ladies don't take offense otherwise we wouldn't say it. |

Hi guys As soon as I noticed the mistake I did try to correct it. On the up side it has created some interest. Also, now when I use them in a game a if they have some success I can always say to my opponent "You've just been Vaginia Whipped"! Boom boom,.. I'm here all week. Try the veal. |
Painter Jim | 04 Jan 2014 7:16 p.m. PST |
To freakin funny, oh and nice figs |
Inkbiz | 04 Jan 2014 7:49 p.m. PST |
Unit commander; Colonel Ingus
.? |
CeruLucifus | 05 Jan 2014 9:36 a.m. PST |
Nice work. Too bad about the typo. Ironically, here on TMP I didn't notice the misspelling until I read a comment about it. The eye sees what it expects. |
Last Hussar | 05 Jan 2014 11:21 a.m. PST |
Cunning Inkbiz, very cunning. I just hope they don't fight like a bunch of pussies. |
Volleyfire | 05 Jan 2014 11:21 a.m. PST |
I was wondering just what the title was alluding to, until I dived in to have a look. |
DukeMaynard | 05 Jan 2014 11:31 a.m. PST |
When I saw this thread title I expected a new regiment for some rather depraved imagi-nation. |
The Traveling Turk | 05 Jan 2014 1:22 p.m. PST |
You guys are some very cunning linguists. |

33rd Vaginia – they must be crack troops. |
Delbruck | 05 Jan 2014 6:18 p.m. PST |
33rd Vaginia, all the women folk love it's commander – Colonel Angus. link |
Henry Martini | 05 Jan 2014 8:09 p.m. PST |
Not so McSorley: they're hopeless at preventing penetrations. |
Lion in the Stars | 05 Jan 2014 8:39 p.m. PST |
When I saw this thread title I expected a new regiment for some rather depraved imagi-nation. Yeah, so did I. I guess even the Server likes the name, since it won't let our esteemed Editor change the title! |
trailape | 05 Jan 2014 10:52 p.m. PST |
So would anyone care to comment on the actual miniatures? ;) |
Chacrinha | 06 Jan 2014 3:15 a.m. PST |
No but I suspect quite a few people here will want to know what brush you used and where to get Vallejo edible body paint. ;-) Actually, the figures look nice, they capture that seasoned campaigner look. No virgin soldiers amongst them. Must say I'm looking forward to your depiction of the Louisiana Togers and of course the immortal Urine Brigade. |
1815Guy | 06 Jan 2014 3:58 a.m. PST |
The Freudian approach to Wargaming – it might well catch on! |
Chacrinha | 06 Jan 2014 4:04 a.m. PST |
But when is the cigar in the mouth of a 28mm commanding general just a cigar? |
ACWBill | 06 Jan 2014 8:22 a.m. PST |
OK, enough with the amateur phylactics. From now on, its only prophylactics! |
ACW Gamer | 06 Jan 2014 9:13 a.m. PST |
This is the most commented on Civil War thread I have seen in a long time. Playing with toy soldiers isn't the only thing we have in common with giggling preadolescent boys. |
zoneofcontrol | 06 Jan 2014 2:43 p.m. PST |
It is good to see them on the march. Much better than holding in place and erecting breastworks. I also understand that they are on a restricted, meatless diet. Yes, that's right, they are all vagitarians. |
Private Matter | 07 Jan 2014 7:31 a.m. PST |
I think that the figures look very nice. I wish I could paint that well. |
donlowry | 07 Jan 2014 11:39 a.m. PST |
The flags look too clean and starchy, other than that, great work! |
AWuuuu | 07 Jan 2014 2:13 p.m. PST |
Very nice confederates but I am a little disappointed :) |
capncarp | 07 Jan 2014 4:20 p.m. PST |
I understand the unit's battle cry is "Hey,diddle, diddle, straight up the middle!"? At least it's not "Once more into the breach, dear friends"! |
williamb | 07 Jan 2014 8:20 p.m. PST |
If you follow the link to his blog it provides the very appropriate (or would that be inappropriate)name of the original colonel for the regiment }D |
